China Glaze - Naughty and Nice

I don't like the classic greens and reds that are usually in the Christmas collections. So I rarely buy something from a Christmas collection. Last year a friend bought me this polish from the " 'Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice" collection and I have to say that it's just perfect! Not the classic red you would expect for the holidays!

Ik hou niet van die standaard groene en rode kleuren die je meestal in de kerst collecties ziet. Daarom koop ik zelden iets uit een kerstcollectie. Vorig jaar heeft een vriendin deze lak voor me gekocht, de lak komt uit de collectie " 'Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice" en ik vind 'm echt perfect. Niet de standaard rode lak die je verwacht met de feestdagen!

Color
Very dark red, maybe a slight bit to the purple side. The more coats you use the more black it looks.
Lovely glossy creme finish.
I really like this color, it's so vampy!

Kleur
Heel erg donker rood, misschien zit er wel een beetje paars in. Hoe meer lagen je gebruikt hoe zwarter de kleur lijkt. Hele mooie glanzende creme finish.
Ik hou echt van deze vampier-achtige kleurtjes!

Application
If you apply two coats you might not get the most even application, but the red base shows more.
If you apply three thin coats you get the result as seen above, wich I prefer.
Very smooth and streekless polish.

Applicatie
Als je twee laagjes opdoet heb je misschien niet het meest gelijkmatige resultaat, maar dan zie je wel beter dat het een rode lak is.
Als je drie dunne laagjes opdoet dan krijg je het resultaat zoals hierboven, wat ik het mooiste vind.
Lakt lekker makkelijk en zonder strepen.

My first Glossy Box!

Two months ago Glossy Box lauched their first box here in Holland. I didn't subscribe in time to get that one. But I immediately subscribed for the next one and two weeks ago the December edition of Glossy Box was delivered at my door.

Twee maanden geleden is Glossy Box in Nederland geïntroduceerd. Ik was er niet op tijd bij om de eerste box te krijgen, maar ik heb me gelijk aangemeld voor de December editie en deze werd twee weken geleden bij me bezorgd.

Every month it's a surprise what's inside the Glossy Box. It can be a good surprise, it can be a bad surprise, but it's a surprise either way and it's much fun to discover the content of the box. This is what I found inside my December box:

Wat er in de Glossy Box van de maand zit is iedere keer een verrassing. Het kan meevallen, het kan tegenvallen, maar het is hoe dan ook een verrassing en daarom leuk om open te maken en te ontdekken wat erin zit. Dit is wat ik in mijn December box vond:



Desciption of pruducts and (full size) prices

Some of these brands are new to me (Dermalogica, Cowshed, Peggy Sage) and some I already heard and/or have used products of ( KOH, Schwarzkopf, Scaredy Cat -only seen on blogs-). But all the products were new to me, so it's fun to discover new products.
Sommige van deze merken zijn nieuw voor me (Dermalogica, Cowshed, Peggy Sage) en van sommige had ik al gehoord of heb iets van die merken geprobeerd (KOH, Schwarzkopf, Scaredy Cat -only seen on blogs-). Alle producten zelf waren nieuw voor me, dus het was leuk om de nieuwe producten te mogen proberen.

KOH Essential Hand Nourisher. I think this is my favorite product of the entire box. KOH is a well known Dutch brand that specialises in hand- and nailcare. This sample looks very nice and there is a good amount of procuct in it, 15 ml / 0.5 oz ( same amount as in an average bottle of nailpolish ).

KOH Essential Hand Nourisher. Ik denk dat dit mijn favoriete pruduct uit deze box is. KOH is een bekend nederlands merk dat gespecialiseerd is in hand- en nagelverzorging. Dit proefmonster ziet er goed uit en er zit een ruime hoeveelheid in, 15 ml ( zelfde als in meeste flesjes nagellak ).

A cute little sample from a Scaredy Cat eyeshadow in the color Chakra. Bright purple with light blue sparkles. I did a quick swatch on my hand, no special base, it has great pigmentation.

Een schattig klein sample flesje  van Scaredy Cat in de kleur Chakra. Fel paars met licht blauwe glimmer erin. Ik heb een snelle swatch op mijn hand gedaan, er zit dus geen speciale basis onder, het geeft echt veel kleur af.

 Cowshed - Lippy Cow. Okay, a lipbalm from a cow barn that makes you lips feel like cow??? That was the first thing I thought when I saw this. But there is no lipbalm in the world that smells and tastes as amazing as this Lippy Cow. The smell and taste are divine, I really love that about this balm. There is Linden blossom, Geranium and Ylang Ylang in it. It unfortunately does little to make my dry chappy lips softer.
Cowshed - Lippy Cow. Cowshed = Koeienschuur. Dus een lippenbalsam uit de koeienschuur die je lippen naar koe doet smaken? Ik bedacht me rare dingen gingen door mn hoofd toen ik deze lip balm zag.
Maar om eerlijk te zijn is er geen lippenspul in de wereld die zo heerlijk ruikt en smaakt als deze Lippy Cow. De geur en smaak zijn echt zalig, dat is absoluut het beste aan deze balm. Er zit lindenbloesem, geranium en ylang ylang in. Helaas maakt het mijn droge beschadigde lippen niet veel zachter.

False lashes with shiney little gems on them. Maybe I'll try them for our pre-Christmas party.
Nepwinpers met glimmende steentjes erop. Misschien probeer ik ze wel op ons pre-Kerstmis feestje.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant - It's a powder, you have to mix with water in your hands untill it foams and then you can gently wash your face with it. It's supposed to make you skin look healthy and shiney so I'm definately going to use this one! Generous sample, 13 grams ( full size is 75 grams ).

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant - Het is een poeder, je moet het in je handen mengen met water tot het schuimt en je gezicht en voorzichtig mee wassen. Je schijnt er een mooie glanzende gezonde huid van te krijgen, dus deze ga ik zeker gebruiken. Rume hoeveelheid zit er in dit proefmonster, 13 gram ( full size is 75 gram )

Full size bottle of Schwarzkopf hairspray, the design is nice. It costs € 17,15 (= $ 22,50 ) I wouldn't have bought it myself. But I certainly need it since I just had a new shorter hairdo!

Grote fles Schwarzkop hairspray, mooi design. Ik zou het niet zelf geprobeerd hebben omdat ik €17, 15 aan de dure kant vind, maar ik kan het wél goed gebruiken omdat ik net mn haar korter heb laten knippen!

So this was my first Glossy Box. I really like the concept of being surprised every month with new high-end products that are being delivered to me at my home in a fancy box.

Models Own - Pinky Brown from the Beetlejuice collection. Swatches and review.

We have some typical fall weather this week: rain, wind (Almost got blown off my bike this afternoon when I was going home after work), cold, massive lack of daylight. I don't like the fall, it's my least favorite season and I can't do decent swatches either. So here is another Beetlejuice polish I swatched weeks ago when we still had a few rays of sun left.

Het is typisch herfst weer deze week: regen, wind (werd bijna van mn fietsje geblazen onderweg naar huis), kou, vreselijk gebrek aan daglicht. Ik hou niet van de hefst, het is mn minst favoriete seizoen en dan kan ik ook nog eens geen fatsoenlijke swatches maken. Dus hier nog maar een lakje van de Beetlejuice collectie die ik weken geleden gefotografeerd heb toen er nog wat straaltjes zon over waren.

Color
Pinky Brown is not pink and not brown either. I think it's more a purple and copper foil. Sometimes there is a pink flash when you look at this in the sun, and sometimes it flashes gold. Very duochrome and very sparkly.

Kleur
Pinky Brown is niet roze en ook niet bruin. Ik vind het meer paars en koper met folie deeltjes. Soms zit er in de zon wel een roze glans in en soms zie je een gouden glans. Erg duochrome en glitterend.

Application
Great, it looked good in two coats, but I did three. Dries realively fast and i like the brush.

Applicatie
Goed, het was al mooi in slechts twee laagjes, maar ik deed er toch drie. Droogt best snel en ik vind het een fijn borsteltje.

I'm really into duochromes lately, I even prefer them over glitter at the moment! I'm really hoping there will be more duochromes from many more brands next year!

Ik ben de laatste tijd helemaal gek op duochromes, ik vind ze nu zelfs leuker dan glitters! Ik hoop echt dat er meer mooie duochromes zullen komen van andere merken!

I was hoping this polish would look more like OPI's The Show Must Go On, but it's definately not, although they could have been related ;-)-
By the way, I desperately need a backup for my OPI The Show Must Go On! If anyone has it and doesn't love it...please let me know, Í'm willing to swap for it. -

Ik hoopte dat dat deze lak meer op OPI's The Show Must Go On zou lijken, maar dat is dus niet zo, maar het had wel familie kunnen zijn ;-)
- Trouwens, ik heb dringend een backup nodig voor mijn OPI The Show Must Go On. Als iemand er een flesje van heeft en het niet gebruikt... laat het me alsjeblieft weten, ik wil je ervoor vergoeden in lak of geld. -

Models Own - Golden Green from the Beetlejuice Collection. Swatches and Review

I just realised I'm posting less than ususal, last November I only did 6 posts! I'm just too busy with doing other fun things and I haven't swatched in weeks. Time flies by so fast. I do wear nailpolis all the time, but rarely get to take decent pictures of them. So here's a quick post to start december properly and I hope to to a little more posts this month.

Ik besef me nu pas dat ik de laatste tijd minder post dan normaal. Afgelopen december heb ik slechts 6 posts gedaan! Ik ben gewoon te druk emt leuke dingen en ik heb ook al weken niets geswatched. De tijd vliegt echt gruwelijk hard voorbij. Ik draag wel de hele tijd nagellak, maar ik heb zelden de tijd om er fatsoenlijke foto's van te maken. Dus hierbij een snelle post om december fatsoenlijk mee te beginnen en ik hoop dat ik deze maand wat meer tijd heb om te posten

Color
Models Own - Golden Green
What's in a name? In this case, everything!
It's metallic green with a strong golden flash / duochrome. The gold makes it look more limegreen. Not very duochrome, not all that special, but still pretty. But this is my least favorite of the collection.

Kleur

Alles wat je moet weten zit al in de naam!
Het is een metallic groen lakje met een gouden glans / duocrome. Door het goud lijkt het meer limoengroen. Niet heel erg duochrome, iik niet heel bijzonder, maar wel mooi. Dit is mijn minst favoriete van de collectie.

Application
Be a bit precise while applying this one, it tends to get streeky. But other than that it covered well, I did three coats, but could have done two thick coats.
Applicatie
Je moet een beetje secuur zijn met het aanbrengen van de lak, want je krijgt snel strepen. Maar naast dat dekt het prima, ik heb drie laagjes op, maar twee dikke laagjes had ook prima gekund.

On the picture above you can see the basecolor better, I really like that color, It's darker and a more armygreen.

Op de foto hierboven zie je de basiskleur beter, dat vind ik echt een prima kleurtje, het is wat donkerder en lijkt wat meer legergroen.

Models Own - Emerald Black from the Beetlejuice collection. Swatches and review

I actually didn't want to order this polish at first, it seemed like just another black-with-green-shimmer like we've seen many times before. But as I bought the boxed set it was included and I'm glad I got it!

Deze lak wilde ik eigenlijk in eerste instantie niet eens bestellen, het leek me weer zo'm zwart-met-groene-shimmer zoals we die al zo vaak hebben gezien. Maar ik kocht het complete pakketje in cadeauverpakking en daar zat 'ie bij en nu ben ik heel blij dat ik 'm heb!

Color
Black with green shimmer. Sometimes the shimmer looks more green, sometimes it looks like there is a little blue in it. The color is very pretty and glossy.

Kleur
Zwart met groene shimmer. Soms lijkt de shimmer heel groen, soms lijkt het alsof er wat blauw in zit. De kleur is mooi en heel glimmend.

Application
Almost a onecoater, but still needs two coats for the perfect coverage. I guess this is one of those polishes that become a onecoater after you've yoused it a couple of times and it thickened a bit.

Applicatie
Bijna goed in één laagje, maar je hebt wel echt twee laagjes nodig om het mooi dekkend te krijgen. Ik denk dat dit zo'n lakje is dat na een paar keer gebruiken een beetje indikt en in één laagje dekt.

This is by no means a duochrome polish like the other polishes of this collection, but it still is very pretty!

Dit is zeker geen duochrome zoals de andere lakjes van de collectie, maar het is wel echt mooi!

Models Own - Aqua Violet from the Beetlejuice collection. Review & swatches.

I've shown you the entire Models Own Beetlejuice collection when it first arrived. I did some quick swatches, but being duochromes they all deserve more than one picture each. So here is the first of the 5 reviews of this collection.

Ik heb je eerder al de gehele Models own Beetlejuice collectie laten zien toen ik het net binnen had. Ik heb toen wat snelle swatches laten zien, maar aangezien het duochromes zijn verdienen ze allemaal meer dan één foto. Dus hierbij krijg je de eerste review van deze 5 lakjes uit de collectie

Color
Blue with purple duochrome. Sometimes the blue looks more greenish turquoise.
The duochrome effect is very visible on the nail.
This is a very nice color and a great addition to my stash.

Kleur
Blauw met paars duochrome. Soms lijkt het blauw meer groene turkooise.
Het duochrome effect is zeer zichtbaar tijdens het dragen van de lak.
Dit is een mooi lakje en een geweldige aanvulling op mijn collectie.

Application
Sheer on the firts coat, looks good with two, but it's perfect on the third coat.
It needed topcoat to be nice and glossy.
You have to be precise while applying this one because there can be some visible brushstrokes.

Applicatie
Vrij dun met het eerste laagje, ziet er al prima uit met twee, maar perfect met drie laagjes.
Je heb wel echt topcoat nodig voor een mooi glanzend resultaat.
Als je tijdens het opdoen goed oplet en netjes werkt heb je geen last van zichtbare strepen van je kwastje.

Op deze foto's beneden kan je goed zien hoe het blauw in deze lak soms meer turkooise lijkt.
Ik heb de kleuren van deze foto niet bewerkt!

In the bottle this one doesn't look very special, you have to wear it to really appreciate this polish.
If you love duochromes, you will love this one

In het flesje ziet deze lak er niet heel speciaal uit, je moet deze lak echt dragen om te zien hoe mooi het is.
Als je van duochromes houdt dan ga je deze echt leuk vinden

Zoya - Gemma

Zoya is one of the best brands I know. They usually have very pretty wearable polishes that have a little something extra and the wear is amazing. The brand is not available in stores here Holland, but there are some webshops here that sell this brand. Fortunately I have friends that travel alot and that's how I got this beauty.

Zoya is één van de beste merken die ik ken. Ze hebben meestal mooie draagbare kleurtjes die iets bijzonders hebben en ze blijven erg lang zitten. Dit merk is in Nederland niet in de winkels te koo, maar er zijn wel wat webshops waar je het merk kan kopen. Gelukkig voor mij heb ik vrienden die graag reizen en zo ben ik in het bezit gekomen van deze schoonheid.

Color
A light army green with a blue shimmer. Or is it a lilac shimmer? I can't decide.
Very subtle but gorgeous polish.

Kleur
een lichte legergroen met blauwe shimmer. Of is het een lila shimmer? Ik ben er nog niet uit.
Erg mooi subtiel lakje.

Application
Great ofcourse, it's Zoya. Good in two coats, I did three because I can.

Applicatie
Ja geweldig natuurlijk, het is Zoya. Ziet er mooi uit met twee laagjes, ik draag hier 3 laagjes, gewoon omdat het kan.

Stamped a nice design from a SdP plate on it. Forgot wich one, but they are all awesome.
I used China Glaze Metallic Muse as stamping polish

Ik heb gestempeld met een SdP plate. Ik weet niet meer welke, maar ze zijn allemaal goed.
De stempellak is Chona Glaze Metallic Muse.

Models Own Beetlejuice collection - bottleshots and swatches

I'm a huge Tim Burton fan and a polishs-a-holic, so ofcourse I set the timer on the moment the Beetlejuice collection from Models Own would be online. Yes, I set a timer to buy nailpolish. They had a countdown clock on their website and I watched it count down to zero untill the 'buy' button appeared and placed my order as soon as possible. A week later they arrived and this is my first post to show you this fabulous collection

Ik ben een enorme Tim Burton fan en nagellakverslaafde, dus uiteraard heb ik een wekker gezet voor het moment dat de Beetlejuice collectie van Model Own te koop zou zijn. ja, ik heb een wekker gezet om nagellak te kunnen kopen. Er stond een aftel-klok op de website en ik heb ernaar gekeken totdat de klok op nul stond en het 'buy' knopje in beeld verscheen en heb direct mn bestelling geplaatst. Een week later werden ze bij me bezorgd en dit is de eerste post die ik doe om jullie deze geweldige collectie te laten zien.

I bought the boxed set, wich actually also contains a clear base+topcoat and it comes in a nice looking giftbox. The polishes are £5 ( 5 british pounds ) each, but if you buy the boxed set you pay £20 for 6 polishes ( 5 Beetlejuice + 1 base+topcoat ). That is a £10 discount!

Ik heb de 'boxed set' gekocht, daarbij zit ook een base+topcoat en het komt in een mooie cadeauverpakking. De lakjes zijn £5 (5 Britse pond ) per stuk, maar als je deze set in doos koopt dan betaal je £20 voor 6 lakjes ( 5 Beetlejuice + 1 bas+topcoat ). Dat is dus £10 korting!

Golden Green is a very pretty glowy green that leans to limegreen because of the yellow golden shimmer. Not very duochrome, but I really don't mind. I like it.

Golden Green is een erg mooie groene lak die wel wat lijkt op limoengroen door de geelgouden shimmer erin. Lijkt wel een beetje of ie lichtgeeft. Niet heel erg duochrome, maar dat interesseert me weinig. Ik vind 'm mooi.

Pinky Brown is my absolute favorite from this collection. It's a gorgeous pinkish purple with a copper duochrome and it's VERY sparkly!

Pinky Brown is echt mijn favoriet van deze collectie. Het is een prachige rozeachtige paars lakje met een koperen duochrome en het is HEEL ERG glitterend!

Purple Blue is the other super sparkly polish in this collection. It's a red based purple with a strong blue duochrome.

Purple Blue is de andere glitterende lak in deze collectie. Het is een paarse kleur met een hele sterke blauwe duochrome.

Aqua Violet is a gorgeous aqua blue with a purple duochrome, same glowy finish as the Golden Green. This is a wonderful color and there is enough duochrome in it to keep you entertained for days ( I got to wear this one two days before I had to take it off to swatch the rest of the collection )

Aqua Violet is een prachtige aqua blauw met een paarse duochrome. Net als die Golden Green lijkt het soms ook of deze lichtgeeft. Het is een geweldige kleur en er zit genoeg duochrome in om je dagen mee te kunnen vermaken. ( Ik heb deze twee dagen gedragen voordat ik het eraf moest halen om de rest van de collectie te swatchen )

Emerald Black is the perfect black/green polish, same glowy finish as Golden Green and Aqua Violet. I love colors like this. There are many polishes like this one, but the emarald green color in it is the prettiest I've seen.

Emerald Black is de beste zwart/groene lak, zelfde 'oplichtende' finish als Golden Green en Aqua Violet. Ik hou van dit soort kleuren. Er zijn een boel lakken die hierop lijken, maar die smaragd groene kleur in deze is de mooiste die ik heb gezien.

This is a great collection! Models Own really hit it with this collection.
I like the two different finishes, the variety in colors, the duochrome effect and ofcourse the name of the collection: Beetlejuice. In the movie, if you say Beetlejuice 3 times, he magically appears. Wouldn't it be great if that also worked for this collection? :-)

Dit is een top collectie! Models Own heeft echt de spijker op zn kop geslagen met deze collectie.
Ik vind de twee finishes mooi, de variatie in kleuren, het duochrome effect en natuurlijk de naam van de collectie: Beetlejuice. In de film moet je 3 keer Beetlejuice zeggen dan verschijnt hij op magische wijze. Zou het niet geweldig zijn als dat ook zou gebeuren met deze collectie? :-)
