Models Own - Emerald Black from the Beetlejuice collection. Swatches and review

I actually didn't want to order this polish at first, it seemed like just another black-with-green-shimmer like we've seen many times before. But as I bought the boxed set it was included and I'm glad I got it!

Deze lak wilde ik eigenlijk in eerste instantie niet eens bestellen, het leek me weer zo'm zwart-met-groene-shimmer zoals we die al zo vaak hebben gezien. Maar ik kocht het complete pakketje in cadeauverpakking en daar zat 'ie bij en nu ben ik heel blij dat ik 'm heb!

Color
Black with green shimmer. Sometimes the shimmer looks more green, sometimes it looks like there is a little blue in it. The color is very pretty and glossy.

Kleur
Zwart met groene shimmer. Soms lijkt de shimmer heel groen, soms lijkt het alsof er wat blauw in zit. De kleur is mooi en heel glimmend.

Application
Almost a onecoater, but still needs two coats for the perfect coverage. I guess this is one of those polishes that become a onecoater after you've yoused it a couple of times and it thickened a bit.

Applicatie
Bijna goed in één laagje, maar je hebt wel echt twee laagjes nodig om het mooi dekkend te krijgen. Ik denk dat dit zo'n lakje is dat na een paar keer gebruiken een beetje indikt en in één laagje dekt.

This is by no means a duochrome polish like the other polishes of this collection, but it still is very pretty!

Dit is zeker geen duochrome zoals de andere lakjes van de collectie, maar het is wel echt mooi!

Nail Polish Bloggers Challenge, Day 5: Hard Rock Candy Cane

Light pink is not my favorite color, so I tried to do a look with this that would make it a little bit more edgy and would show less of the pink base. This what I came up with:

Licht roze is niet mijn favoriete kleur, dus ik wilde deze keer iets doen waardoor het er wat stoerder uit zou zien en waarbij je wat minder zou zien van de roze basis. En dit is wat ik bedacht heb:

First I painted my nails pink and allowed it to dry completely. Then I used stripingtape to get the sripes and didn't cut the stripes off at the edges so removing them would be easier. After that I applied the black polish and carefully removed the stripingtape as soon as possible. Topped it off with a nice thick coat of topcoat and it was done.

Allereerst heb ik natuurlijk mijn nagels roze gelakt en heb het goed laten drogen. Daarna heb ik stripingtape gebruikt en de uiteinden niet afgeknipt zodat ik de streepjes er makkelijk vanaf kon halen. Daarna dik laagje zwarte lak er overheen en direct voorzichtig die tripingtape eraf geplukt. Laagje topcoat erover en het was klaar.

It was a bit of a chore to get al the stripes on neatly so I doubt if I will ever do all 10 nails like this, but it is a great way do an accent nail or maybe all 10 nails with a little less stripes on them.

het was wel even een klusje on alle streepjes er keurig op te krijgen, dus ik betwijfel of ik ooit alle 10 nagels zo zou doen, maar het is wel een leuk idee om op deze manier een accentnagel te doen of alle 10 de nagels met wat minder streepjes.

The black polish has tiny holographic glitters in it, it's really pretty. I bought it many years ago, but it still works great! It's even better than in the beginning because it's more opaque now.
De zwarte lak heeft piepkleine holografische glittertjes erin, het is erg mooi. Ik heb deze echt al jaren geleden gekocht, maar het is nog steeds goed. Het is misschien zelfs wel beter dan in het begin omdat het nu beter dekt.

It's friday now and I just came home from work. It was a long and busy week so I'm going to relax a bit tonight, watch tv, drink some wine and polish my nails. I have no clue what color I shall paint them, but I have ALOT of untrieds to hoose from. I think Friday is my favourite day of the week.

Het is nu vrijdag en ik ben net thuis van werk. Het was een lange en drukke week dus ik ga lekker relaxen vanavond, beetje tv kijken, win drinken en nageltjes lakken. Ik heb geen idee welke kleur in mn nagels ga doen, maar ik heb VEEL ongebruikte lakjes om uit te kiezen. Ik denk dat vrijdag mn favoriete dag van de week is.

Color Club - Revvvolution ( aka Black Holo Eyecandy)

Color Club Revvvolution came out two years ago, but it's still one of the best polishes Color Club ever made! I realised I never showed it on my blog eventhough I've worn it many times, just like it's sisters Wild at Heart and Fashion Addict, which I really must show you soon!
But now feast your eyes on Revvvolution:

Color Club Revvvolution is al twee jaar oud, maar het is nog steeds één van de beste lakjes die Color Club ooit gemaakt heeft! Ik besefte me dat ik deze nog nooit aan jullie heb laten zien terwijl ik 'm best wel vaak gedragen heb, net als zn zusjes Wild at Heart en Fashion addict die ik jullie ook echt snel een keertje moet laten zien. Maar nu kan je genieten van Revvvolution:

Color
Black, not jet black, but more soft looking due to all the amazing holographic particles in it. Because it's not deep black you can really wear this on any occasion. In the sun it's a rainbow over black, it's not an extreme holo as for instance a Nfu Oh holo. It's more subtle, but definately noticable. It's just perfection to me.

Kleur
Zwart, niet git zwart, maar het oogt veel zachter door alle holografische deeltjes die erin zitten. Omdat het niet super zwart is kan je deze lak alle gelegenheden dragen. In de zon is het een regenboog op een zwarte achtergrond, het is niet een hele extreme holo zoals een Nfu Oh. Het is wat meer subtiel, maar wel duidelijk zichtbaar. Deze lak is voor mij echt perfect.

Application
It's a onecoater and dries super fast. I'm wearing two coats so the ridges in my nails are not showing, but you get perfect coverage with one thin coat. This is a polish I wear when I'm in a hurry.

Appliactie
Met één laag ben je klaar en die laag droogt super snel. Ik draag hier twee lagen zodat de ribbels in mn nagels niet zo opvallen, maar met één dun laagje is het eigenlijk al helemaal perfect. Dit is een lak die ik draag als ik haast heb.

Holo's + summer are the perfect match. I usually don't wear darker colors in the summer, I like how the brighter colors look in the sun, but this black holo is just lovely in the summer. It looks classy and fun at the same time.

Holo's + zomer zijn echt de perfecte combinatie. Ik draag meestal geen donkere kleuren in de zomer, ik hou ervan hoe de fellere kleuren stralen in de zon, maar deze zwarte holo is echt leuk in de zomer. Het ziet er netjes en vrolijk uit tegelijk.

I don't own OPI's My Private Jet, but from what I've seen on other blogs I think that OPI MPJ is slightly more brown, less opaque and slightly less holographic. So if you missed out on that one you can always try to get a bottle of Revvvolution.

Ik heb OPI My Private Jet niet, maar van wat ik zie op andere blogs is die iets bruiner, wat minder dekkend en wat minder holografisch. Dus als je OPI MPJ niet hebt kunnen kopen dat kan je altijd properen een flesje Revvvolution te bemachtigen

Graffiti, Pool Party & bling ( sounds like the concept of a wild party...or a wild mani )

This is a mani from exactly a month ago, yes, I'm very behind. It was absolutely amazing to wear this, the graffiti effect is unique and no two nails are the same.

Dit is een mani van exact een maand geleden, ja ik loop erg achter. Het was echt geweldig om dit te dragen, het graffiti effect is uniek en niet twee nagels zijn hetzelfde.

Base: China Glaze - Pool Party

Effect: Isadora Graffiti Nails - Black Tag

Top: China Glaze - Wireless Holographic Topcoat

The look of the graffiti effect depends on how thick you apply the polish. So you can go for a subtle or a dramatic effect with this. Look at the picture below: see the left pinky above in the picture? It has a thin stripey effect, that's because I applied the polish thin. The other nails have big chunks of graffiti effect, that's because I applied a thick coat of griffiti polish on the nail.

Hoe je graffiti effect eruit komt te zien hangt af van hoe dik je deze lak aanbrengt. Je kan gaan voor een subtiel effect of een dramatisch effect. Kijk naar de foto die je hier beneden ziet: zie je mijn linker pink bovenin de foto? Het heeft een dun streperig graffiti effect, dat komt omdat ik hierop een dun laagje lak had gesmeerd. De rest van de nagels hebben een redelijk grof graffiti effect, dat komt doordat ik daarop een lekkere dikke laag lak op heb gesmeerd.

The graffiti nailpolish dries in a few seconds, so when applying this polish...be quick or the crackling effect starts before you are finished painting your nail. Oh and be sure that your basecolor has dried almost completely before you apply the graffiti polish or it drags the basecolor with it and you get bald spots.

Deze graffiti lak droogt in een paar seconden, dus wees snel met het lakken hiermee of het effect barst al los terwijl je nog aan het lakken bent. Oh en zorg ervoor dat je basiskleur al vrijwel helemaal droog is voordat je die graffiti lak erop smeert andres trekt de graffiti lak bij het drogen de basislaag mee en dan heb je kale plekken.

Because the graffiti polish dries matte and with a noticable texture you'll want to slap on a nice glossy topcoat. Ofcourse that wasn't enough for me, so I used holographic topcoat and after that some Seche Vite.

Omdat de graffiti nagellak matte opdroogt en met het effect als een duidelijk profiel op je nagel, wil je er wel een lekkere dikke laag topcoat op smeren. Uiteraard was dat nog niet genoeg voor me, dus ik heb eerst een holografische topcoat opgedaan en daarna nog een laag Seche Vite.

This mani had me entertained for four days and still when I look at these pictures I love the mani.

I should use graffiti polish again real soon, I still have a light pink one and a red one I haven't used yet and I have some nice things I would like to try out with those...

Deze mani heeft me 4 dagen vermaakt en als ik nu naar de foto's kijk ben ik er weer helemaal blij mee.

Ik moet snel maar snel weer wat doen met graffiti nagellak, ik heb nog een licht roze en een rode die nog niet gebruikt zijn en ik heb al wel wat leuke dingen bedacht die ik daarmee zou willen uitproberen.

GLITTERPARTYYYY - Mad as a Hatter (2nd review) + layering

One of my first posts here on the blog was about OPI's Mad as a Hatter, one of the most beautiful glitter polishes ever made. I didn't have a camera then, so pictures were made with my crappy cellphone and they look awful and don't do this polish justice at all. So I decided to do a 2nd post with better pictures.

Eén van mijn eerste posts hier op mijn blog ging over OPI's Mad as a Hatter, één van de mooiste glitter lakken ooit gemaakt. Ik has toen nog geen fototoestel, dus ik maakte foto's met mijn waardeloze mobieltje en ze zien er vre-se-lijk uit en doen deze lak helemaal geen recht. Dat zat me nogal dwars, dus hierbij doe ik een tweede post van deze lak met betere foto's.

BBQ nails with Nfu.Oh 60

Oké, het ligt vast aan mij en aan het zomerse weer dat ik aan barbecuen denk als ik deze nagellak zie. Maar de zwarte lak en de flakies die eruit zien als gloeiende kooltjes doen mn mond wateren!

Okay, it's probably me and the summery weather that make me think of barbecueing when I look at this polish. The black polish with flakies that look like glowing hot choals make my mouth water!
Kleur
Zwart jelly basis met flakies die afhankelijk van het licht veranderen van oranje, naar geel en soms naar groen. Ik kan er naar blijven kijken, het is fascinerend.

Colour
Black jelly base with flakies that depending on the lighting change from orange to yellow and sometimes green. I can't stop looking at it, it's fascinating.
Applicatie
Nfu.Oh 60 is een jelly, dus ik zou erg veel lagen nodig hebben voor een dekkend resultaat. Daarom draag ik hier twee lagen over één laag Misa I will Survive ( zwart creme ), ik heb daarna een laag Seche Vite opegedaan. Nfu.Oh heeft een hele fijne applicatie, de flakies verdelen gelijkmatig en de lak blijft lang en mooi zitten, na 4 dagen nog geen beschadigingen.

Application
Nfo.Oh 60 is a jelly so I would've need lots of coats to get it opaque. That's why I wore it over one coat Misa I Will Survive ( black creme ) and I finished with a coat of Seche Vite. Nfu.Oh has a great application, the flakies disperse evenly and the wear of this polish is amazing, no chips after 4 days.
Oh en kijk ook even hoe vreselijk mooi het flesje is, de dop en het flesje zelf zijn echt prachtig versierd.
And just look at the pretty bottle, the cap and the bottle are beautifully decorated.

Op deze laatste twee foto's zie je hoe mooi deze lak nog op mijn nagels zat na 4 dagen dragen. Ik heb die dag de nagellak eraf gehaald omdat ik een andere op wilde, maar ik had er makkelijk nog een paar dagen me kunnen doen.

On these last two pictures you see the polish after four days wear. I removed the polish later that day because I wanted to wear another polish, but I easily could have done a few more days with it.
Nfu.Oh is wat lastiger te krijgen en is wat duurder dan andere lakken, maar ik vind dat ze het waard zijn omdat ze echt bijzonder zijn. Ook is het flesje niet alleen mooi, maar ook groot en er zit meer in dan in een flesje OPI.

Nfu.Oh is a bit more difficult to buy and it's a bit more expensive, but I think they are worth it because they are really special. Also the bottle is not only really pretty, it's also really big, there's more polish in it then in a OPI.

My first matte: Orly - Iron Butterfly

Ruim een week geleden ging ik op zondagavond naar Alice in Wonderland. Natuurlijk had ik mijn OPI Mad as a Hatter op moeten doen, maar ik was slecht voorbereid, de film draaide erg vroeg en uiteindelijk moest ik héél snel mijn nagels lakken. Dus besloot ik mijn eerste matte lak te proberen: Orly Iron Butterfly.

Sunday over a week ago I went to see Alice In Wonderland. I know I should've worn OPI's Mad as a Hatter, but I was ill-prepared, the movie started earlier as expected so I had to do a quick mani. So I decided to try out my first matte polish: Orly Iron Butterfly.

Kleur
Mat zwart met heel veel hele fijne zilveren glittertjes.
Ik vond het heel mooi, maar moest wel wennen aan de matte finish. Als ik ernaar keek dan had ik steeds het gevoel dat er iets miste, dat mn manicure nog niet af was ofzo.

Colour
Matte black with lots of small silver glitter in it.
It's pretty, but I have to get used to the matte finish. Every time I looked at it I felt like something was missing, like the mani wasn't complete or something


Applicatie
Als een droom, één laag is vrijwel dekkend, met twee lagen is het perfect. Droogtijd is geweldig: een minuutje per laag.

Application
it applies like a dream, one coat gives you almost full coverage, with two coats you have a perfect opaque result. Drying time is amazing: one minute per coat.


Commentaar
Binnen een dag was de lak vreselijk beschadigd. Er waren stukken lak op het midden van meerdere nagels eraf gekrast, misschien gebeurd toen ik iets uit mijn tas pakte? Je mag natuurlijk geen topcoat over de matte lak dragen dus dacht ik wel dat het sneller zou beschadigen, maar dit was wel erg overdreven. Misschien heeft dat te maken met de speciale formule van matte lak? Volgende keer toch maar een lekkere dikke laag glossy topcoat eroverheen.

Comments:
Within a day the polish was terribly damaged. Pieces of polish were scratched off on the middle of some nails, maybe this happened while grabbing something out my bag? You are not supposed to wear topcoat over matte polish, so I was aware that the polish would chip quicker, but it was much worse then I expected. Maybe it also has to do something with the formula of matte polish?
Maybe next time I wear this polish I'll wear it with a nice thick layer of glossy polish.

PS- Alice in Wonderland is een hele leuke film. Ik ben groot fan van alle films die Tim Burton maakt dus ik ben bevooroordeeld, maar ik raad iedereen aan om de film te gaan kijken.

PS- Alice in Wonderland is a really good movie. I'm a big fan of all movies made by Tim Burton, so I am predjudiced, but I advise everyone to go see this movie.

Funky Punky French Mani with Misa and OPI

Vorige week heb ik handige stickertjes gekocht waarmee je zelf een french manicure kan maken. Nou hou ik zelf niet van een klassieke wit/roze french mani, maar het leek me wel leuk om op deze manier meerdere kleurtjes tegelijk te kunnen dragen. Ik heb ervoor gekozen om zwart en roze te combineren omdat ik dacht dat dit een lekker felle rockchick combinatie zou zijn samen...en dat is het! Met dank aan Michèle van Lacquerized die me op het idee bracht om met dit sombere weer een lekker zonnig kleurtje op te doen.

Kleur
Misa - I will survive
Zondag heb ik mn nagels gelakt met een prachtige zwarte nagellak, Misa's I Will Survive uit de Dance Fever collectie. Ik vind deze zwarte lak geweldig, het is creme zwart, niets meer en niets minder, gewoon prachtig glanzend zwart. Heeft voor de glans geen topcoat nodig ook. Heerlijk.
OPI - It's all greek to me
Maandag heb ik de uiteinden van mijn nagels gelakt met de mooiste roze die ik tot nu toe heb, OPI's It's all Greek to me. Ik heb deze lak misschien al wel ruim 6 of 7 jaar en ik blijf het een geweldige kleur vinden. Het is een diepe felle kleur roze, met een metallic glans. Echt een opvallende kleur die in de zomer heel leuk staat op teennageltjes.


Applicatie
Misa - I will survive dekt in één laag en zelfs de meest onhandige persoon kan glanzende, streeploze perfect gelakte nagels krijgen met Misa. Dit geldt voor alle lakken die ik heb van dit merk.
OPI - It's all greek to me is al een oude lak en het flesje is meer dan half-leeg, dus de lak is ondertussen dik en stroperig geworden. Maar vroeger was de applicatie perfect, de lak was toen zelfs een beetje dun en moest in twee lagen opgedaan worden.


De funky punky french mani
Ik heb eerst mijn nagels zwart gelakt en een dag later heb ik met de stickertjes een stukje nagel afgeplakt en het uiterste stukje in roze gelakt. Daarna heb ik de stickertjes eraf gehaald en een laagje topcoat erover gedaan. Heel simpel, heel leuk resultaat! Oh ja, bij mn linker wijsvinger bleef er wat zwarte lak aan het plakkertje zitten en dat moest ik bijwerken, maar bij 9 van de 10 ging het allemaal goed! En de stickertjes kostten maar € 1,29 bij de Kruitvat.

Last week I bought some stickers for making your own french manicure. I'm not the classic white/pink french mani type, but I thought it would be fun for wearing multiple colours at the same time. I chose black and pink beceause it's a fun bright rockchick combination of colours. I would like to thank Michèle from Lacquerized for giving me the inspiration of sing a bright summer-colour in this dark winter.

Colour
Misa - I will survive
Sunday I painted my nails with a beautiful black polish, Misa's I Will Survive from the Dance Fever collection. I love this black, it's a creme black, nothing more an certainly nothing less, just beautiful shiney black. Doesn't need a topcoat.
OPI - It's all Greek to me
On Monday I painted the tips of my nails with the most stunning pink I own so far, OPI's It's all Greek te me. I have this polish for over 6 or 7 years and I keep loving it. It's a deep bright colour pink with a metallic shimmer. A really vibrant colour which also is great on the tootsies in the summer!

Application
Misa- I will survive is opaque in just one coat and even the least experienced person can get streakless perfect polished nails with Misa. This counts for all polishes I own of this brand.
OPI - It's all Greek to me is an old polish and the bottle is more than half empty so the polish has become very thick and the application is a bit messy. It used to be a perfect polish though, it even was a bit thin and needed at least two coats.

The funky punky french mani
So I first painted my nails black and a day later I used the stickers and painted the tip of my nail pink. Then I removed the stickers and added some topcoat. Very simple, but the result is really great. Unfortunately the sticker on my index was a bit too sticky and it removed some of the black polish, but that was easily fixed. 9 out of ten went great. And the stickers only cost € 1,29 ( about $2 )in my local drugstore.
