Summary of this weeks Nail Polish Bloggers Challenge - all 7 mani's in a row

So I just posted the last mani of this weeks challenge. It wasn't easy to post every day, but it was alot of fun and very much worth the extra effort. The other girls in this challenge are so nice and I enjoyed meeting them on Facebook and our blogs.

Dus ik heb net de laatste mani voor de uitdaging van deze week gepost. Het was niet makkelijk om iedere dag een bericht te posten, maar het was wel erg leuk om te doen. De andere meiden die meedoen met de challenge zijn heel aardig en ik vond het leuk om ze te ontmoeten op Facebook en op onze blogs.

Nail Polish Bloggers Challenge, Day 7: Pink Pop Art

For day 7 of the challenge I tried some real nailart, you know, doing a real design myself with tiny nailart brushes. It's hard and not something I would normally do, but I wanted to do something special for the last day of the challenge.

Voor de 7e dag van de uitdaging wilde ik wat echte nailart proberen, je weet wel, met kleine kwastjes zelf een patroon tekenen. Het is echt moeilijk en niet iets wat ik normaal zou doen, maar ik wilde iets bijzonders doen voor de laatste dag van de uitdaging.
I was inspired for this mani by WAH nails, I've seen some pictures of pop art nails there. If you are not familiar with pop art you should really google it, try Roy Lichtenstein, he is a wellknown pop art artist.

Ik was geïnspireerd door een mani van WAH nails, daar heb ik wat foto's gezien van pop art nagels. Als je niet weet wat pop art is dan moet je het echt even googelen, probeer Roy Lichtenstein, hij is een bekende pop art kunstenaar.

This really was alot of work! First I painted my nails pink and let it dry. Then I used scotch tape to tape off the pointy shapes and painted the second color over the nail. After that I outlined the shapes with nailart stripers, did some dotting and tried to paint words.
Dit was echt veel werk! Eerst heb ik mijn nagels roze gelakt en heb het laten drogen. Daarna heb ik plakband gebruikt om puntige vormpjes af te plakken en heb de tweede kleur er overheen gelakt. Daarna heb ik de randjes van de vormen met nailart streeplakjes bijgetekend, heb wat stipjes gezet en geprobeerd woordjes te tekenen.

I liked it alot when I was finished so I wore these 5 painted nails the whole day. I didn't mind the nails on the other hand were naked, I only had eyes for my left hand.
Ik vond het zo leuk geworden dat ik de hele dag met deze 5 gelakte nagels heb rondgelopen. Het kon me niets schelen dat de nagels op mn andere hand naakt waren, ik keek alleen maar naar mn linker hand.

I liked trying some new nailart for this week, some things worked better than I thought and I will definately try them again ( double stamping, frankening ). I probably wouldn't have tried those things anytime soon if I wasn't doing this challenge. So thanks to Caroline from Good Lack, Nail! for asking me to do this challenge!

Dus, we zijn er. Dit is het einde van deze roze nagellak bloggers uitdaging.
Ik vond het leuk om wat nieuwe nailart dingetjes uit te proberen, sommige dingenw erden leuker dan ik had verwacht en die ga ik ook zeker nog een keer proberen ( dubbel stempelen, frankens maken ). Ik denk niet dat ik dat snel een keer geprobeerd zou hebben als ik niet aan deze uitdaging had meegedaan. Dus heel erg bedankt Caroline van Good Lack, Nail! dat je me gevraagd hebt om hieraan mee te doen!

Nail Polish Bloggers Challenge, Day 5: Hard Rock Candy Cane

Light pink is not my favorite color, so I tried to do a look with this that would make it a little bit more edgy and would show less of the pink base. This what I came up with:

Licht roze is niet mijn favoriete kleur, dus ik wilde deze keer iets doen waardoor het er wat stoerder uit zou zien en waarbij je wat minder zou zien van de roze basis. En dit is wat ik bedacht heb:

First I painted my nails pink and allowed it to dry completely. Then I used stripingtape to get the sripes and didn't cut the stripes off at the edges so removing them would be easier. After that I applied the black polish and carefully removed the stripingtape as soon as possible. Topped it off with a nice thick coat of topcoat and it was done.

Allereerst heb ik natuurlijk mijn nagels roze gelakt en heb het goed laten drogen. Daarna heb ik stripingtape gebruikt en de uiteinden niet afgeknipt zodat ik de streepjes er makkelijk vanaf kon halen. Daarna dik laagje zwarte lak er overheen en direct voorzichtig die tripingtape eraf geplukt. Laagje topcoat erover en het was klaar.

It was a bit of a chore to get al the stripes on neatly so I doubt if I will ever do all 10 nails like this, but it is a great way do an accent nail or maybe all 10 nails with a little less stripes on them.

het was wel even een klusje on alle streepjes er keurig op te krijgen, dus ik betwijfel of ik ooit alle 10 nagels zo zou doen, maar het is wel een leuk idee om op deze manier een accentnagel te doen of alle 10 de nagels met wat minder streepjes.

The black polish has tiny holographic glitters in it, it's really pretty. I bought it many years ago, but it still works great! It's even better than in the beginning because it's more opaque now.
De zwarte lak heeft piepkleine holografische glittertjes erin, het is erg mooi. Ik heb deze echt al jaren geleden gekocht, maar het is nog steeds goed. Het is misschien zelfs wel beter dan in het begin omdat het nu beter dekt.

It's friday now and I just came home from work. It was a long and busy week so I'm going to relax a bit tonight, watch tv, drink some wine and polish my nails. I have no clue what color I shall paint them, but I have ALOT of untrieds to hoose from. I think Friday is my favourite day of the week.

Het is nu vrijdag en ik ben net thuis van werk. Het was een lange en drukke week dus ik ga lekker relaxen vanavond, beetje tv kijken, win drinken en nageltjes lakken. Ik heb geen idee welke kleur in mn nagels ga doen, maar ik heb VEEL ongebruikte lakjes om uit te kiezen. Ik denk dat vrijdag mn favoriete dag van de week is.

Nail Polish Bloggers Challenge, Day 4: Pink Petals

This is day 4 of the challenge. Posting every day is not easy for me, I just don't have the time for it, so I prepared all the posts weeks before the challenge and posted less regular posts. Usually I'm not that well organised, so this is a double-challenge for me!

Dit is dag 4 van de challenge. Iedere dag een bericht posten is niet makkelijk voor me, ik heb er gewoon geen tijd voor, dus ik ben al weken geleden begonnen met het voorbereiden voor deze challenge en heb wat minder gewone posts geplaatst. Normaal gesproken ben ik nietzo goed voorbereid, dus dit is een dubbele uitdaging voor me!

I wanted to try some stamping layering for this mani without it being over the top. For that I used colors that match well together and used a matte topcoat in between to minimise the shine of the metallic pink that I used for the flowers. I also didn't use any topcoat because of that.

Ik wilde wat verschillende stempels over elkaar gebruiken voor deze mani zonder dat het over de top zou zijn. Daarom heb ik voor kleuren gekozen die goed bij elkaar passen en heb tussendoor een matte topcoat gebruikt om de glas van de metallic roze van de bloemen wat minder te maken. Ik heb dus ook geen topcoat gebruikt.

The imageplates I used for this mani are all SdP-plates from Dashica Beautyshop. I'm really impressed with these, the images are a bit longer and wider than the Konad plates, so the full nail images actually fit on your whole nail. Besides that, the quality of this plates is good and they give nice clear stamps. The owner of Dashica Beautyshop is a Dutch beauty blogger and she designs the imageplates herself. De imageplates die ik voor deze mani heb gebruikt zijn allebei SdP-plates van Dashica Beautyshop. Ik ben erg onder de infruk van deze plates, de afbeeldingen zijn wat langer en breder dan die van Konad dus de afbeeldingen die je hele nagel zouden moeten bedekken doen dat bij de Sdp-plates dus ook echt. Naast dat komen de afbeeldingen ook mooi scherp over op je nagel. De eigenaresse van Dashica Beautyshop is een Nederlandse beautyblogger and ze ontwerpt haar eigen imageplates. Dus daarom wat blog-love voor haar: Dashica Beautyshop / DashicaBeautyblog

Looking at these pictures I'm thinking I could have added a matte topcoat to finish this mani. On these pictures you can see it's not a perfectly smooth mani. I didn't want to do that when I did the mani because I was afraid it would dull the purple and teal color. But I'm nitpicking now, in the end this mani turned out to be better then I hoped it would.

Nu ik naar deze foto's kijk zie ik dat ik eigenlijk best nog een extra laagje matte topcoat had kunnen gebruiken om de mani helemaal mee af te maken. Op de foto's kan je zien dat het eindresultaat niet volledig glad is. Ik wilde het niet doen toen ik de mani opdeed omdat ik bang was dat het de kleur van het paars en blauw zou vervagen. Maar dit is wel een beetje mierenneuken, uiteindelijk is het namelijk wel beter geworden dan ik had gehoopt.

I've said it before this week, but I must try this mani again later with a basecolor that I like better. Light pink is not something I would wear volontarily ;-)

Ik heb het deze week al eens eerder gezegd, maar ik moet deze mani echt nog een keer proberen met ander kleurtje als basis dat ik wat leuker vind. Licht roze is niet iets dat ik vrijwillig zou dragen ;-)

Nail Polish Bloggers Challenge, Day 3: Punky Pink

I have a thing for skulls and other "eerie" things ever since I've read my first vampire story when I was 8 years old. Back then it used to be hard to find stuff with skulls on it so if I found anything with skulls I was overly excited. Now you can find it on the corner of every street and all over the web, but I still get a little excited if I buy something nice with a skull on it. So ofcourse I bought some nailart stuff with skulls and I decided to comine some of them in a cute pink mani for day 3 of this challenge.

Ik heb iets met schedels en andere 'griezelige' dingen sinds ik als 8 jarig meisje mijn eerste vampieren verhaal las. Het was vroeger erg lastig om spulletjes met schedels erop te vinden, dus als ik iets leuks vond met een schedel erop was ik ik helemaal blij. Tegenwoordig vind je spullen met schedeltjes op iedere straathoek en over het hele web, maar toch ben ik nog steeds blij als ik iets leuk vind met schedels erop. Dus natuurlijk heb ik ook wat nailart dingen met schedels erop gekocht en ik heb een paar ervan gecombineerd voor dag 3 van deze uitdaging.

Deze mani is ondanks de schedeltjes echt suikerzoet, LOL.

Vind je mn vleesloze vriendjes niet super schattig?

Nailart is really not my thing, but stamping is so much fun and you get nice results with little effort. And the bigger skulls are waterdecals, that is even easier than stamping! You just soak them in water and put them on your nail, topcoat it and you're done. Nailart for dummies ;-)
Nailart is echt niet mijn ding, maar stempelen is echt leuk en je hebt geweldige resultaten met weinig moeite. En de grotere schedeltjes zijn waterdecals, dat is nog makkelijker dan stempelen! Je weekt ze even in water en dan leg je ze op je nagel, topcoatje erover en klaar. Nailart voor dummies ;-)

As you can see I smeared some of the skulls on my index. That's because I didn't use enough topcoat. If you use a big drop op topcoat your image will be intact.

Zoals je ziet zijn een paar skulls op mijn wijsvinger een beetje uitgesmeerd. Dat komt doordat ik niet voldoende topcoat heb gebruikt. Als je een flinke druppel topcoat gebruikt dan blijven je plaatjes er goed uitzien.

I'm happy with how this turned out, I might even try this with different colors for a full mani with base a color that is more my taste.
Ik vind dat dit leuk geworden is, waarschijnlijk ga ik het nog een keer proberen met andere kleuren voor een volledige mani met een andere kleur als basis die wat meer mijn smaak is.

OPI - What's With The Cattitude?

I wanted this polish not only for the lovely bright lightblue color, but also for it's name, I like the word Cattitude :-)  As a 'catlady' I needed this polish badly. So Rebecca bought it for me and sent it in our swap. I wore it twice since, yes TWICE ( that's alot with over 40 untrieds in the top drawer of my Helmer )

Ik wilde deze lak zo graag hebben, niet alleen om de helder lichtblauwe kleur, maar ook echt om de naam. Cattitude is echt één van de beste combinatie van woorden ooit :-) Als een 'kattenvrouwtje' had ik deze lak gewoon nodig. Dus Rebecca heeft deze lak voor me gekocht en in onze swap naar me toegestuurd. Sindsdien heb ik deze lak al twee keer gedragen, ja TWEE keer ( dat is echt vaak als je je beseft dat ik nog minimaal 40 ongebruikte lakjes in de bovenste lade van mijn Helmer heb staan )

Color
Light blue, not to pale though, it's bright enough to have a bit of an edge to it. Especially if you have a bit of a tan this polish is a real eyecatcher

Kleur
Lichtblauw, niet te licht gelukkig, het is fel genoeg om toch een beetje spannend te zijn. Vooral als je een beetje een tintje hebt valt deze lak echt op.

Application.
I expected this one to be more opaque, the first coat was really sheer. I always use thinner coats, so it needed three coats for the perfect coverage. If you apply your polish a bit thicker you probably have the same result with two coats. I love how it smooths out so perfectly after application, no streeks and it's extremely glossy!

Applicatie
Ik verwachtte dat deze lak meer dekkend zou zijn, de eerste laag was redelijk doorzichtig. Ik gebruik altijd dunnere laagjes, dus ik had wel 3 lagen nodig voor een perfect dekkend resultaat. Als je iemand bent die dikkere lagen lak gebruikt zal je genoeg hebben aan twee lagen. Ik was echt onder de indruk van hoe de lak direct na opbrengen prachtig glad rechttrekt, geen streep te zien en wat is het extreem glimmend!

On the picture above you can really see how smooth and glossy this polish is ( this is before topcoat! ).
This polish is not something really special, the color and finish are not something we haven't seen before, but this polish still a winner in my book!

Op de foto hierboven kan je echt goed zien hoe mooi glad en glimmend deze lak is ( deze foto is gemaakt voordat ik topcoat opdeed! ).
Deze lak is eigenlijk niet heel speciaal, de kleur en de creme finish zijn niet iets wat we nog nooit gezien hebben, ondanks dat vind ik het toch echt een top lakje!

Catrice - Princess for a Day + cute little dots with Konad 2Way nail Artpen

Two days ago I showed you this lovely polish. While swatching it I thought it would look amazing as a base for stamping or some other nailart. It needed something extremely cute and girly to match the color.
As I couldn't stick fluffy baby bunnies on my nail, I decided to draw some little white dots on it.

Twee dagen geleden liet ik jullie deze leuke lak zien. Toen ik 'm aan het swatchen was bedacht ik me dat deze lak een eweldige basis zou zijn voor stempelen of een andere soort nailart. Het zou wel iets vreselijk schattig en meisjesachtig moeten zijn zodat het zou passen bij de kleur van deze lak. Omdat ik geen donzige baby konijntjes op mijn nagels kon plakken besloot ik om er wat kleine witte stipjes op te tekenen

Ahhhh cute-ness all over! It's so sweet I might have gained a pound just by looking at it ;-)

Ahhhh ultime schattigheid. Het ziet er zo zoet uit dat ik bijna een halve kilo van ben aangekomen van het kijken ernaar ;-)

The dots are made with the white Konad 2Way Nail Artpen. This is a pen filled with white polish and it has a little striper brush and a pen. Great for nailart-dummies like me. Everyone can make nice dotted nails in very little time with this pen.

De stipjes zijn gemaakt met de witte Konad 2Way Nail Artpen. Het is een pen gevuld met witte lak en het heeft een pen en een smal kwastje. Geweldig ding voor nailart-prutsers zoals ik. Iedereen kan hiermee leke stipjes zetten in super weinig tijd.

My local drugstore recently exchanged their small Catrice stand for a big Catrice stand, I'm amazed with the wide range of colors and finishes they have. The wear is average, usually I can do 3 days without chips, but that's fine with me.

De Kruitvat bij ij in de buurt had eerst alleen een klein assortiment Catrice, maar sinds een paar weken staat daar een groot display en het enorme aanbod aan kleuren en finishes verbaast me echt. Ze dragen goed, meestal kan ik ze ruim 3 dagen dragen zonder enige beschadiging, dat is prima.

Essence - You Belong To Me + handpainted flowers

Yesterday I showed you Essence You Belong To Me, a very cute light blue polish.
After taking pictures I wanted to play a little with it and decided I could paint some subtle flowers on it.
Yes I said subtle, now that's a word I don't use often!

Gisteren liet ik jullie Essence You Belong To Me zien, een erg lieve licht blauwe nagellak.
Nadat ik die foto's gemaakt had wilde ik nog even spelen met het lakje en besloot dat ik er wat subtiele bloemetjes op zou tekenen.
Ja ik zei subtiel, dat is een woord dat ik zelden gebruik!

I used two Konad 2Way Nail Artpens, one in white and one in light green. I used the pen for the petals and the brush for the stems. Each Artpen had a brush and a pen.
I put a shimmery stone in the middle and stuch it onto a little dot of polish.

Ik heb de Konad 2Way Nail Artpens gebruikt, een witte en een licht groene. Ik heb de pen gebruikt voor de blaadjes en het kwastje voor de steeltjes. Iedere Artpen heeft een kwastje en een pen.
Ik heb in het midden van ieder bloemetje een glimmend steentje geplakt op een stipje nagellak.

Seriously. How do all those bloggers like The Daily Nail and For Your Nails Only get their freehand designs to look so ridiculously perfect on their nails??? Those girls must have superhuman skills, it's so hard to draw on your nails!

Serieus. Hoe krijgen al die bloggers zoals The Daily Nail en For Your Nails Only die mooie zelfgemaakte designs zo achterlijk perfect op hun nagels??? Die meiden moeten echt bovennatuurlijke vaardigheden hebben ofzo, het is echt super lastig om op je nagels te tekenen!

Doing nailart is really something I should leave to the professionals, but my simple little flowers did make me smile :-)

Nailart laat ik echt wel aan de professionals over, maar ik werd wel vrolijk van mijn simple kleine bloemetjes :-)

"Back to the future" with my 80's theme Birthday mani

So last friday it was my 31st birthday, 31 already, jeezzz...
That evening I had aparty at my house and it had an 80's theme. Ofcourse I had to do a matching mani and this is is what I came up with

Dus afgelopen vrijdag was mijn 31e verjaardag, 31 alweer, djeeezzzz....
Die avond gaf ik thuis een feestje en het had een jaren 80 thema. Uiteraard moest ik daar ook een bijpassende mani bij doen en dit is wat ik gemaakt heb

Polishes used:
Yellow: Catrice 'Bye Bye Birdy!'
Pink: Catrice 'Princess for a day'
Green: Hema nr 82
Purple: Hema nr 83
Blue: actually forgot which one it was, I guess China Glaze 'Flyin' High'
Black: Orly 'Iron Butterfly'
Silver: China Glaze 'Millennium'

Thursday evening I did all the base colors and friday morning I used some tape to make the triangles.

Donderdag avond heb ik alle basis kleurtjes opgedaan en vrijdag ochtend heb ik met hulp van wat plakband de driehoeken erop gemaakt.

And ofcourse I also did my right hand. I tried to take a decent picture of it, but the picture below is the best I could manage. I just can't seem to take a good picture with my non-dominant hand and my right hand also isn't very photogenic. But the picture does show the 80's mani well.

Natuurlijk heb ik ook mijn rechter hand gedaan. Ik heb nog geprobeerd er een goede foto van te maken, maar de foto hieronder is het beste dat ik voor elkaar kreeg. Op één of andere manier is het onmogelijk om met mijn linker hand een onbewogen foto te maken en daarnaast is mijn rechterhand ook nog eens totaal niet fotogeniek. Maar je ziet wel goed de jaren 80 mani.

I need to find more occasions to which I can wear this legging, I'm in love with it!

Op de foto hieronder zie je de mani samen met de geweldig foute legging die ik voor dit feest gekocht had.
Ik moet echt meer gelegenheden vinden waarbij ik deze legging aan kan, ik ben er helemaal verliefd op!

To be honest I didn't only celebrate my birthday, I also celebrated that my 'Eppie' moved in with me, so it also was his housewarming party. So happy with Eppie.
Most of the people dressed 80's-style for our party , they really did a great job, the party was super fun!

Om eerlijk te zijn vierde ik niet alleen mijn verjaardag, ik vierde ook dat mijn 'Eppie' bij mij is komen wonen, dus het was ook zijn housewarming feestje. Zo happy met Eppie ( hey dat rijmt haha )
Veel mensen kwamen verkleed en hadden echt moeite besteed aan hun outfit, het was echt een super gezellig en leuk feestje!
