A very sunny polish: Gosh - Yellow Bombay

Als je op zoek bent naar zomer in een potje dat perfect past bij zonnig weer of juist om een sombere dag op te vrolijken, probeer dan eens Gosh Yellow Bombay. Wat een vrolojke kleur, het is de perfecte gele lak!

Color
A very sunny yellow, not to bright, not to pale, it's jelly-like with shimmer and tiny opalescent glitter.

Kleur
Een hele zonnige kleur geel, niet te fel, niet te bleek, het is een jelly-achtig lakje met shimmer en hele kleine oplichtende glitters.

Application
A big A+. Yellows are usually very tricky because they tend to have streeks, get goopy and have an uneven application. Not this one, it's opaque in three coats and it applies evenly. Love it.

Applicatie
Echt een dikke 10+. Gele lakken zijn meestal lastig omdat ze streperig zijn, wat dik worden en daardoor geen net resultaat geven. Deze heeft niets daarvan, het is dekkend in 3 laagjes en het gaat keurignetjes op je nagel. Ik vind 'm prachtig.

Gosh Yellow Bombay is actually my sisters, I've never seen it in the store. For some reason I can't explain I often overlook the Gosh polishes. Last time I visited my sister the loaned me two Gosh polishes so I could show them to you and I'm so glad she did, this really makes me want to buy more Gosh polishes!

Gosh Yellow Bombay is eigenlijk van mijn zusje, ik heb 'm zelf niet eerder in de winkel gezien. Om onduidelijke redenen kijk ik er altijd overheen in de winkel. Laatste keer dat ik bij mijn zusje op visite was leende ze me twee Gosh lakjes om aan jullie te laten zien en daar ben ik super blij mee, door dit lakje wil ik meer Gosh lakjes kopen!

This is my second favorite yellow after OPI's It Color. I like yellow polishes and am very fortunate they go well with my skintone, because on other blogs I've read how people like yellow but that it doesn't look good on them. Maybe it doesn't look good on me either, but I just imagine it does because I like to keep wearing yellow :-)

Dit is mijn tweede favoriete gele lak, op nummer één staat OPI's It Color. Ik vind gele lak echt heel leuk en ben erg blij dat het me staat, want op andere blogs lees ik wel eens dat anderen de kleur geel mooi vinden, maar dat het niet bij hun huidskleur staat. Misschien staat het mij ook niet, maar beeld ik het me allemaal in omdat ik het dan gewoon kan blijven dragen :-)

"Back to the future" with my 80's theme Birthday mani

So last friday it was my 31st birthday, 31 already, jeezzz...
That evening I had aparty at my house and it had an 80's theme. Ofcourse I had to do a matching mani and this is is what I came up with

Dus afgelopen vrijdag was mijn 31e verjaardag, 31 alweer, djeeezzzz....
Die avond gaf ik thuis een feestje en het had een jaren 80 thema. Uiteraard moest ik daar ook een bijpassende mani bij doen en dit is wat ik gemaakt heb

Polishes used:
Yellow: Catrice 'Bye Bye Birdy!'
Pink: Catrice 'Princess for a day'
Green: Hema nr 82
Purple: Hema nr 83
Blue: actually forgot which one it was, I guess China Glaze 'Flyin' High'
Black: Orly 'Iron Butterfly'
Silver: China Glaze 'Millennium'

Thursday evening I did all the base colors and friday morning I used some tape to make the triangles.

Donderdag avond heb ik alle basis kleurtjes opgedaan en vrijdag ochtend heb ik met hulp van wat plakband de driehoeken erop gemaakt.

And ofcourse I also did my right hand. I tried to take a decent picture of it, but the picture below is the best I could manage. I just can't seem to take a good picture with my non-dominant hand and my right hand also isn't very photogenic. But the picture does show the 80's mani well.

Natuurlijk heb ik ook mijn rechter hand gedaan. Ik heb nog geprobeerd er een goede foto van te maken, maar de foto hieronder is het beste dat ik voor elkaar kreeg. Op één of andere manier is het onmogelijk om met mijn linker hand een onbewogen foto te maken en daarnaast is mijn rechterhand ook nog eens totaal niet fotogeniek. Maar je ziet wel goed de jaren 80 mani.

Op de foto hieronder zie je de mani samen met de geweldig foute legging die ik voor dit feest gekocht had.
Ik moet echt meer gelegenheden vinden waarbij ik deze legging aan kan, ik ben er helemaal verliefd op!

To be honest I didn't only celebrate my birthday, I also celebrated that my 'Eppie' moved in with me, so it also was his housewarming party. So happy with Eppie.
Most of the people dressed 80's-style for our party , they really did a great job, the party was super fun!

Om eerlijk te zijn vierde ik niet alleen mijn verjaardag, ik vierde ook dat mijn 'Eppie' bij mij is komen wonen, dus het was ook zijn housewarming feestje. Zo happy met Eppie ( hey dat rijmt haha )
Veel mensen kwamen verkleed en hadden echt moeite besteed aan hun outfit, het was echt een super gezellig en leuk feestje!

Fun summer mani with neons, shatter and glitter!!!

Do you remember all the fun neons we used to get in the summercollections? I was hoping there would be some new fresh neons this year. But this year we only got some from Color Club, which I didn't buy beceause they looked like other neons fron the same brand I already own. So I used some of my 'old' Color Club neons to make a fun summer mani.

Kan je je nog herinneren dat we leuke neons kregen in de zomer collecties? Ik hoopte dat we dit jaar weer wat nieuwe frisse neonkleurtjes zouden krijgen. Dit jaar heeft alleen Color Club wat neons uitgebracht, maar die leken sprekend op oudere lakjes van hetzelfde merk, dus heb ik er geen van gekocht. Daarom heb ik mijn 'oude' Color Club neons gebruikt om een vrolijke zomer mani te maken.

I've seen other bloggers doing mani's with multiple neons together and then stamped with the Konad leopard print. That is where I got the idea for this mani from. So thank you for the inspiration if you are one of those bloggers!

Ik heb bij andere bloggers wel eens mani's gezien waarbij ze meerdere neons hadden gebruikt en daarna hadden gestempeld met het panterprintje van Konad. Zo kwam ik op het idee om deze mani te doen. Dus als jij één van die bloggers bent dan wil ik je bij deze hartelijk bedanken voor de inspiratie.

If you don't live in the Netherlands you probably don't know this, but we are having the hottest April in over 300 years! The Netherlands is the warmest country in Europe right now, better then in Spain of Greece! Almost every day temperatures round 24 degrees Celsius ( 75 Fahrenheit ), lots of sun, almost no rain...it's insane! And I love it! Usually we only have this kind of weather (if we are lucky!) in july of august. So you'll understand I was in the mood for a bright summer mani!

Ohhh lieveschatten wat is het toch heerlijk weer he? Heb je ook gehoord dat het de warmste april is in ruim 300 jaar en dat we het warmste land van Europa zijn op dit moment? Dat is toch te gek voor woorden? Ik word hier wel héél erg blij van hoor en vandaar dat ik dus ook erg in de stemming was voor een felle zomer mani!

The bright nails matched nicely with my black and yellow 'Black Ice Glam Pie' Pastry sneakers!
I love my Pastry sneakers, they are so comfortable and colorful. Unfortunately there aren't many stores here that carry this brand and they usually don't have a large collection, but I'm certainly going to buy more! (click the link above to see why)

De felle nageltjes paste leuk bij mijn zwart met gele 'Black Ice Glam Pie' Pastry sneakers.
Ik ben echt gek op mijn Pastry sneakertjes, ze zitten echt heerlijk en ze zijn zo kleurig. Jammer genoeg zijn er niet heel veel winkels die ze verkopen, maar ik ga er wel zeker meer van kopen! (klik op de link hier boven om te zien waarom )

 The best thing about this mani ( besides that I loved looking at it all the time )? It lasted for 6 days without chipping and I got compliments about it each day! I don't paint my nails to get compliments, but it is nice if someone notices my mani and takes the effort to say something about it.

Wat is het beste aan deze mani ( naast dat ik er de hele tijd blij naar zat te kijken)? Het zat zes dagen perfect zonder beschadigingen en ik heb er iedere dag complimentjes over gekregen! Niet dat ik mijn nagels lak om complimentjes te krijgen, maar het is wél leuk als iemand je mani opmerkt en de moeite neemt om er iets over te zeggen.

December Glitter #2: Playing With Isadora Graffiti Nails Masterpiece Pink

So I was home alone when I created these swatches. I wanted to try out the pink Isadora Graffiti polish over different colors and after that I just kept adding different glitters like a madwoman which didn't benefit the endresult. Sometimes I just don't know when enough is enough. Ah well, we all have those days don't we?

Dus ik was lekker alleen thuis toen ik deze swatches maakte. Ik wilde de roze Isadora Graffiti nagellak proberen over verschillende kleuren en daarna ben ik als een gek met glitters eroverheen gegaan wat geen positief effect had op het resultaat. Soms weet ik gewoon niet wanneer ik moet stoppen. Achja, we hebben allemaal wel eens van die dagen toch?

As you can see the Graffiti polish dries matte and a little bit chunky. Nothing a good topcoat can't solve.
It's very important to let your basecolor dry before you apply the Graffiti polish. If the basecolor is too wet the Graffiti polish drags pieces of the base with it when it dries to it's crackling effect.

Zoals je kan zien droogt de Graffiti lak matte op en is het vrij dik. Dit is makkelijk opgelost met een goede topcoat.
Het is erg belangrijk om de basiskleur goed te laten drogen voordat je de Graffiti lak opsmeert. Als de basis te nat is dan trekken gedeeltes van die basis kleur mee als de Graffiti lak opdroogt tot dat gebarsten effect.

After that I needed to add some glitter, I thought it would be fun for my December Glitter- theme.
I put on two different glitterpolishes and after that I randomly placed some Nfu Oh nailart holographic flakies on it. Especially that last addition was totally unneccesary.

Daarna moest ik er glitters overheen doen, dat leek me leuk voor mijn December Glitter -thema.
Er zitten twee lagen glitterlak overheen en ik heb ook nog willekeurig wat grove Nfu Oh nailart losse holografische flakies overheen gedaan. Vooral die laatste waren echt niet nodig geweest.

I really like these crackling polishes, but I think I like the darker colors better, the effect is much more dramatic. This pink/pastel/colorful thing I did here might have been more interesting last spring.
Maybe when I wear this pink Graffiti polish as a full mani, I should wear it over a black or blackened polish. Yeah I think that would be more my style.

Ik vind deze gebarsten lakjes echt heel leuk, maar ik denk dat ik donkerdere kleuren wel leuker vind, die hebben een veel dramatischer effect. De roze/pastel/gekleurde toestand wat ik hier gemaakt heb zou misschien afgelopen lente meer interessant zijn geweest.
Als ik deze roze Graffiti lak als volledige mani ga dragen dan zal ik deze waarschijnlijk over een zwarte of andere hele donkere lak dragen. Jah dat moet ik doen, volgens mij is dat meer mijn stijl.

Vanwege het December Glitter- thema heb ik een foto gemaakt met één van mijn kerstslingers. De slinger staat leuker in de boom als ik die later deze week ga versieren ;-)

Barielle - Aura Angora

I love blogsales, so when Magic Maid Nicole had the biggest blogsale ever, I immediately bought some of her. Not every polish I wanted was still available, but I was fortunate to get my hands on six really great polishes and brands that aren't available to me, like Barielle, BB Couture, CND and Hard Candy.
Today I'm showing you my very first (and only) Barielle

Ik hou van blogsales, dus toen Magic Maid Nicole de grootste blogsale ooit had, heb ik direct wat van haar gekocht. Niet ieder lakje dat ik wilde was nog beschikbaar, maar ik had het geluk om zes mooie lakjes te scoren van onderande merken die ik hier niet kan krijgen, zoals Barielle, BB Couture, CND en Hard Candy.
Vandaag laat ik je mijn eerste (en enige) Barielle zien

Color
Mustardy yellow. It's a brownish yellow. Somebody also said that it lookes like light caramel. I only know that it's a color I've never seen in a polish. I really like it on me, but next time I think I'll wear it with some nailart of Konad over it.

Kleur
Mosterd geel. Beetje bruinig geel. Iemand zei ook dat het een beetje de kleur van caramel heeft. Ik vind het een unieke kleur en ik vind eigenlijk wel dat het me staat. Volgende keer draag ik het wel met wat nailart of Konad er overheen.

Application
If every Barielle is like this one then I'll need many more polishes of this brand. It's thick, so I added some thinner, it's good in one coat (I did two ) and it dries superfast!!! I didn't even need Seche Vite.
Does anyone knows if all Barielle polishes dry this fast?

Applicatie
Als iedere Barielle is zoals deze, dan heb ik er nog een heleboel nodig. Het is een dikke lak, dus ik heb er war verdunner bij gedaan, het dekt in één laag ( ik heb er twee op) en het droogt echt supersnel!!! Ik had niet eens mijn Seche Vite nodig.
Weet iemand of alle Barielle lakjes zo vreselijk snel drogen?

I found it very hard to capture the true color of the polish with my camera. It looks more yellow on my pictures then it looks in real life. But the pictures are close.

Ik vond het best lastig om de werkelijke kleur te fotograferen. Op mijn foto's lijkt het meer geel dan het in het echt lijkt. Maar de foto's komen wel in de buurt.

Well, I'm off to the gym.

I REALLY don't feel like it at all. I'd rather wear those comfy baggy gym-clothes here on my couch while sipping tea.

Zo, ik ga zo naar de sportschool.

Ik heb GEEN ZIN. Als het aan mij ligt ga ik in diezelfde slobberige comfortabele sportkleren lekker op de bank hangen en thee drinken.

My outrageous rainbow nails, eyes and lips. Playing with colors for my LowLands-look

I'm going to LowLands!!! Woohoo!!! Lowlands is the biggest 3-day musicfestival in The Netherlands and it's held every year in august. Over 60.000 people go to this festival to enjoy music (mostly alternative) and party 24/7 like craaazy for three days in a row. And with that many people, you'll need to put some effort in your looks, otherwise you'll just blend in the crowd.
So I started playing with some of my polishes and eyeshadows and made some picures of it for you to see.

Ik ga naar LowLands!!! Woohoo!!! Oh ik heb er zo veel zin in, 3 dagen bands kijken, de hele dag en nacht feesten en genieten van de bijzondere sfeer daar. Zoals je waarschijnlijk weet zijn er echt meer dan 60.000 mensen daar, dus als je niet volledig in de menigte wil opgaan dan moet je wat aandacht aan je uiterlijk besteden. Daarom ben ik vorige week wat gaan spelen met lakjes en oogschaduws en heb er wat foto's van gemaakt voor jullie om naar te kijken.

Dit is het resultaat van niet kunnen kiezen welke nagellak je op moet doen...dan doe je ze allemaal op. En ik vond het er leuk uitzien. Dus het worden regenboognagels voor LowLands.

I liked the result so I'll be rocking with my rainbownails on LowLands!
Waarschijnlijk doe ik er flakies overheen, Gosh Rainbow lijkt me hier wel toepasselijk bij.
I might put some flakies over it, Gosh Rainbow seems so appropriate with this mani.
Toen ik mijn nagels op bovenstaande manier had gelakt bedacht ik me dat ik daar ook bijpassende oogschaduws bij heb. Dus toen ben ik verschillende dingen daarmee gaan uitproberen. Ik heb deze look nog niet eerder geprobeerd, maar ik vond het resultaat best grappig.

When I polished my nails in all those colors I thought about the eyeshadows that I have that perfectly matched the colors on my nails. So I grabbed my eyeshadows and tried some looks with them. I never tried something like this before, but I thought it looked like fun.

Oke, de foto hieronder is een waardeloze foto, ik weet het, maar ik vond het zo grappig om te laten zien hoe ik met twee verschillend opgemaakte ogen zat.

En hier ging ik echt helemaal los, hahaha, vraag me niet waarom, maar ik besloot diezelfde oogschaduw op mijn lippen te smeren.

OPI - The 'It' Color

This is my NOTW from two weeks ago, it made me so happy. This is the first yellow polish I wore as a complete mani and I fell head over heels in love with it.

Deze lak droeg ik twee weken geleden als NOTW en ik werd hier heel erg vrolijk van! Dit is de eerste gele nagellak die ik als volledige mani heb gedragen en ik ben er helemaal verliefd op geworden.

Kleur
Het is een warme beetje donkere kleur geel. Het bijzondere van deze kleur is dat het een heel opvallende kleur is die toch ook vrij netjes gedragen kan worden. Deze kleur past echt geweldig bij mijn huidskleur. Ik ben echt enthousiast over deze lak en wil 'm heel graag snel weer dragen, ookal heb ik nog héél veel ongebruikte lakjes liggen.

Color
It's a warm somewhat darker yellow. What I really like is how it's an unsusual striking color, but it's also possible to wear it quite decently to work. This polish looks great with my skintone. I'm really enthousiastic about this one and I can't wait to wear it again, eventhough I have lot's of untrieds waiting for me. Applicatie
De lak is een beetje dik, maar heeft een jelly-achtige kwaliteit: Dus hoewel de lak wat dik en streperig leek te zijn bij de eerste laag, hij droogde toch helemaal glad en streeploos op. Er waren wel 4 lagen nodig voor een volledig dekkend resultaat omdat de lak een beetje jelly-achtig is. Maar de droogtijd was prima, dus zo erg vond ik het niet om een extra laagje te smeren. Oh en de lak is ook prachtig glossy van zichzelf.

Application
The polish is a little bit thick, but with a jelly-like quality: so while the polish seemed a bit thick and streeky, it evened out perfectly smooth and streekless. Because of the jelly-like quality it needed 4 coats for opacity, but drying time was fine so I didn't mind the extra layer of polish. Oh and the polish is very glossy.
( I know it looks like there is VNL, but I assure you it's just my camera playing tricks on me)

Ik heb deze lak gedragen van donderdagavond tot maandagavond en er waren geen beschadigingen en ik had minimale slijtage aan de randen. De enige reden dat ik de lak eraf haalde was omdat ik een andere kleur wilde dragen.
Vlak voordat ik The 'It' Color eraf haalde ontving een pakketje met 3 Konad nailart pennen. Uiteraard moest ik een paar streepjes zetten om te kijken hoe ze werkten. En ik vond het eigenlijk wel leuk staan voor een eerste poging, dus heb ik er een foto van gemaakt.

Right before I removed The 'It' Color, I received a package containing 3 Konad nailart pens. Ofcourse I had to make a few lines to try one of them out. When I was done trying the nailart pen out I thought it looked nice for a first try, so I snapped a picture for you
( this is after 4 full days of wear...no chips, no tipwear)
