My choice for the perfect autumn mani: LA Girl Metal - Copper Alloy

I think I bought this one over a year ago and I actually didn't like it as much in the bottle because it's an orange. I thought it would be more red-toned when I ordered it. So I kept it in my drawer and never looked at it again. But when I finally decided it was time to swatch it I wanted to give myself a smack to the head for not trying this sooner. It's so sparkly, glowy and flattering, see for yourself:

Deze lak heb ik echt meer dan een jaar geleden gekocht en toen ik 'm kreeg was ik er eigenlijk helemaal niet zo blij mee omdat ik 'm te oranje vond. Ik had verwacht dat deze lak meer rood zou zijn. Dus ik stopte 'm in een la en keek er niet meer naar om. Toen ik laatst eindelijk een keer besloot om 'm te swatchen kon ik mezelf wel voor mn kop slaan dat ik deze niet eerder geprobeerd had. Deze lak is zo glimmend, alsof 'ie licht geeft en staat zo goed, kijk zelf maar:

Color
The base is a warm orange, actually it's way more red-toned than I expected it to be. And filled with bright golden shimmer that glows and sparkles. If you ever wanted to know what they mean with 'Lit from within' then you need to look at this polish. It reminds me of lava. It's sooo pretty.
I'm a big fool for not liking this immediately and keeping this tucked away in my dawer for so long.

Kleur
De basis is een diepe warme oranje die veel meer rood erin heeft dan ik verwacht had. En dan zit het ook nog propvol spankelende glitterende shimmer. Als je ooit op blogs hebt gelezen over 'Lit from within' dan weet je nu wat ze ermee bedoeken, het is echt of er licht straalt diep onder deze lak vandaan. Het lijkt wel lava op je nagels. Zooo mooi.
Ik ben echt een enorme sukkel dat ik deze lak niet gelijk mooi vond en dat ík 'm zo belachelijk lang in mn la verstopt heb.

Application
Nice application, also better than I expected it to be. Three thin coats for a perfect result.

Applicatie
Ook al beter dan ik verwachtte. Drie dunne laagjes voor een perfect dekkend resultaat.

And what is better than a polish that really surprises you with unexpected beauty? TWO of those bottles of unexpected awesomeness!!! Yes, I bought two of these and I'm planning on doing a little giveaway soon and I will include the second bottle of this one!

En wat is er nou beter dan een lakje dat onverwacht helemaal tegek is? TWEE van deze flesjes met onverwachte heerlijkheid!!! Ja, ik heb er destijds twee gekocht en ik ga het andere flesje binnenkort weggeven bij een giveaway!

This might be my favorite polish for fall so far, it reminds me the color of autumn leaves or a red sunset in the late afternoon. Very pretty and it makes me less sad that the summer has ended, let's bring out all the warmer and darker colors now!

Dit is misschien wel mn favoriete lak voor de herfst, de kleur doet me denken aan verkleurende herfstblaadjes of een rode zonsondergang aan het einde van de middag. Erg mooi en het maakt me wat minder verdrietig dat het nu echt geen zomer meer is, kom maar op met al die warmere donkere kleuren!

Fun summer mani with neons, shatter and glitter!!!

Do you remember all the fun neons we used to get in the summercollections? I was hoping there would be some new fresh neons this year. But this year we only got some from Color Club, which I didn't buy beceause they looked like other neons fron the same brand I already own. So I used some of my 'old' Color Club neons to make a fun summer mani.

Kan je je nog herinneren dat we leuke neons kregen in de zomer collecties? Ik hoopte dat we dit jaar weer wat nieuwe frisse neonkleurtjes zouden krijgen. Dit jaar heeft alleen Color Club wat neons uitgebracht, maar die leken sprekend op oudere lakjes van hetzelfde merk, dus heb ik er geen van gekocht. Daarom heb ik mijn 'oude' Color Club neons gebruikt om een vrolijke zomer mani te maken.

Polishes used:
Base: China Glaze - White on White (a white base makes the neons extra bright )

I've seen other bloggers doing mani's with multiple neons together and then stamped with the Konad leopard print. That is where I got the idea for this mani from. So thank you for the inspiration if you are one of those bloggers!

Ik heb bij andere bloggers wel eens mani's gezien waarbij ze meerdere neons hadden gebruikt en daarna hadden gestempeld met het panterprintje van Konad. Zo kwam ik op het idee om deze mani te doen. Dus als jij één van die bloggers bent dan wil ik je bij deze hartelijk bedanken voor de inspiratie.

If you don't live in the Netherlands you probably don't know this, but we are having the hottest April in over 300 years! The Netherlands is the warmest country in Europe right now, better then in Spain of Greece! Almost every day temperatures round 24 degrees Celsius ( 75 Fahrenheit ), lots of sun, almost no rain...it's insane! And I love it! Usually we only have this kind of weather (if we are lucky!) in july of august. So you'll understand I was in the mood for a bright summer mani!

Ohhh lieveschatten wat is het toch heerlijk weer he? Heb je ook gehoord dat het de warmste april is in ruim 300 jaar en dat we het warmste land van Europa zijn op dit moment? Dat is toch te gek voor woorden? Ik word hier wel héél erg blij van hoor en vandaar dat ik dus ook erg in de stemming was voor een felle zomer mani!

The bright nails matched nicely with my black and yellow 'Black Ice Glam Pie' Pastry sneakers!
I love my Pastry sneakers, they are so comfortable and colorful. Unfortunately there aren't many stores here that carry this brand and they usually don't have a large collection, but I'm certainly going to buy more! (click the link above to see why)

De felle nageltjes paste leuk bij mijn zwart met gele 'Black Ice Glam Pie' Pastry sneakers.
Ik ben echt gek op mijn Pastry sneakertjes, ze zitten echt heerlijk en ze zijn zo kleurig. Jammer genoeg zijn er niet heel veel winkels die ze verkopen, maar ik ga er wel zeker meer van kopen! (klik op de link hier boven om te zien waarom )

 The best thing about this mani ( besides that I loved looking at it all the time )? It lasted for 6 days without chipping and I got compliments about it each day! I don't paint my nails to get compliments, but it is nice if someone notices my mani and takes the effort to say something about it.

Wat is het beste aan deze mani ( naast dat ik er de hele tijd blij naar zat te kijken)? Het zat zes dagen perfect zonder beschadigingen en ik heb er iedere dag complimentjes over gekregen! Niet dat ik mijn nagels lak om complimentjes te krijgen, maar het is wél leuk als iemand je mani opmerkt en de moeite neemt om er iets over te zeggen.

Hard Candy - Lava + Konad

The polish is so correctly named: Lava, and it really does look like that. I bought this polish on a blogsale from Magic Maid Nicole and it is very pretty! Blogsales are a great way to receive some polishes you can't get easily where you live or you alway's wanted but missed out on. Hard Candy is a brand I can't get here in Holland, so I'm really glad I could buy it from her!

Deze nagellak heeft echt zo'n toepasselijke naam: Lava, en zo ziet het er ook uit. Ik heb deze lak op een blogsale gekocht van Magic Maid Nicole en het is erg mooi. Blogsales zijn een hele goede manier om aan lakjes te komen waar je in Nederland moeilijk toegang toe hebt of die je wel wilde hebben, maar net achter het net hebt gevist. Hard Candy is een merk dat we hier niet kunnen krijgen, dus ik ben erg blij dat ik deze van haar kon kopen.

Color
Orange-red with alot of golden glitter. Very sparkly, the golden glitter shows in real life much more then my pictures show you.

Kleur
Oranje-rood met heel veel gouden glitter erin. Heel erg glimmend, de gouden glitter zie je in het echt veel beter dan dat je op mijn foto's kunt zien.

Konad
I used an image from plate M63 and stamped with yellow special Konad polish. You can stamp with almost every polish that's a bit thich, but I prefer the special stamping polishes, they are the easiest to work with.

Konad
Ik heb een afbeelding gebruikt van plaat M63 en heb gestempeld met gele speciale Konad lak. Je kan met bijne iedere goed dekkende lak stempelen, maar ik geef toch de voorkeur aan de lakken die daar speciaal voor gemaakt zijn omdat die het makkelijkste werken.

My co-worker thought my mani looked very Asian. That was not the look I was going for, but I agree it lookes a bit like that!

Mijn collega vond dat mijn mani er Aziatisch uitzag. Dat was niet precies de bedoeling, maar ik moet bekennen dat het er wel wat van weg heeft!

My bottle of lava even came with the cute plastic heart-shaped ring on it that is very typical for this brand!
Sigh, I need a Wal-Mart here in the Netherlands.

Mijn flesje lava kwam zelfs met de schattige plasticken ring die zo typerend is voor dit merk!
Zucht, ik wil een Wal-Mart in Nederland.

December Glitter #5: nails on fire with Nfu Oh #45

Two weeks ago my Love ( aka Eppie ) bought me some Nfu Oh polishes. The first one I wore was this fiery Nfu Oh #45, I just couldn't wait to see how it would look on my nails.

Twee weken geleden kocht mijn Lief ( bijnaam Eppie ) voor Sinterklaas een paar Nfu Oh nagellakken voor me. De eerste die ik droeg was deze vlammende Nfu Oh nr 45, ik kon echt niet wachten hoe deze op mijn nagels zou staan!

Wowwwww just look at this amazing polish!!!!!!!!!!

Wauwwww zie je hoe fantastisch deze kleur is!!!!!!!

Color
Reddish orange jelly with lots of orange/yellow flakies that sometimes reflect some green.
Depending on how the light hits the flakies the polish looks more red or more orange.

Kleur
Roodachtig oranje jelly met heel veel oranje/gele flakies die soms wat groen reflecteren.
Afhankelijk van hoe het licht op de flakies komt, lijkt de lak meer rood of meer oranje.

Application
Wonderful application, no troubles at all with the polish or the brush. Because it´s a jelly it´s very sheer, after three coats I had a nice almost opaque result. On some pictures you still see some VNL, but in real life it was hardly visible, probably because the explosion of color and flakies is so destracting.

Applicatie
Goeie applicatie, geen enkel probleem met de lak of het borsteltje. De lak is redelijk doorzichtig omdat het een jelly is, na drie lagen had ik een bijna dekkend resultaat. Op sommige foto´s zie je mijn nagel er nog een beetje doorheen, maar in het echt zag je er bijna niets van, waarschijnlijk omdat je wordt afgeleid door de explosie van kleur en flakies.

And because it´s december I really had the urge to add glitter to this already glowing mani.
I kept the glitter relatively subtle, which I rarely do, but I didn't want the glitter to outshine the nailpolish.

En omdat het december is had ik de behoefte om nog extra glitter toe te voegen aan een mani die al knalde.
Ik heb de glitter erg subtiel gehouden, wat ik zelden doe, maar ik wilde niet dat de glitter de aandacht wegnam van de nagellak.

For the glitter pattern I first stamped with Konad Plate M63 and China Glaze 2030, after that I traced the lines with a glitter nailart striper.

Voor het glitterpatroontje heb ik eerst gestempeld met Konad plaat M63 en China Glaze 2030, daarna heb ik de lijntjes overgetrokken met een glitter nailart striper.

And for the people who like to wear their polishes a long time: the wear of Nfu Oh flakie polishes is sensational, after 5 days no tipwear at all. I've worn 3 different Nfu Oh flakies so far and they are all that good.

En voor de mensen die hun lak graag lang dragen: de NFU Oh flakie lakjes blijven sensationeel goed zitten, na 5 dagen geen enkele slijtage. Ik heb 3 verschillende Nfu Oh flakie lakjes gedragen tot nu toe en ze zijn allemaal zo goed.

Look at the amazing Nfu Oh polishes my Love gave me for Sinterklaas!!!!

Okay, if you don't live in Holland, you probably don't know what or who Sinterklaas is. In short (and with a little help from wiki to explain it to you ): Sinterklaas is a traditional Winter holiday figure, which the Americans used for the base of Santa Claus ( or Sandy Claws, LOL ). All children get presents from Sinterklaas if they have been nice that year. Sinterklaas rides on a white horse called Amerigo over the rooftops to drop presents through the chimney with help from his helpers who are all called Zwarte Piet ( =Black Pete ). For more info look here, it gives a really nice description of our holiday.
Grown-ups often celebrate Sinterklaas among friends and family just for the fun of it.

Okay now we switch over to what I wanted to show you. I got ALOT of presents for Sinterklaas, but these I just had to share with you: My Love (aka Eppie ) bought me four Nfu Oh's !!!!

Na een korte uitleg voor onze buitenlandse vrienden laat ik jullie nu zien wat ik heb gekregen van Sinterklaas. Ik heb ONWIJS veel gekregen, maar dit wilde ik echt met jullie delen: Mijn Lief ( aka Eppie ) heeft vier Nfu Oh's voor me gekocht!!!

The queen of the OPI Burlesque-collection: The Show Must Go On!

Whoa, this polish directly entered my top10, it was love at the first swipe. It's everything I want in a polish and then some. I've only worn it once, but I can see myself cleaning the bottle out untill the last drop.

Whaaa, deze lak is mijn top10 binnen gesprongen, het was liefde op de eerste veeg. Het heeft alles wat ik wil in een lak en meer. Ik heb 'm pas 1 keer gedragen, maar ik zie mezelf nog wel hengelen naar de laatste druppel.

Color
It's red, pink and orange, depending on the light and the angle of your hand. My nails are very curvy so most of the time it looked reddishpink on the centre and orange on the sides. And it's a foil, so it's extremely shiney and sparkly.

Kleur
Het is rood, roze en oranje, afhankelijk van het licht en hoe je je hand houdt. Mijn nagels zijn erg rond dus meestal is het rozerood op het midden en oranje aan de zijkanten. En het is een folie-lak, dus het is erg glimmend en glitterend.

Application
I expected it to be very sheer ( like Wing It ), but it's not! Another big plus for this polish. It took 2 coats for an opaque result, but I did three, just to be sure that there was nu visible nail line when I took macroshot pictures.

Applicatie
Ik verwachtte dat deze lak vrij dun en doorzichtig zou zijn ( zoals Wing It ), maar dat is het niet! Echt nog een groot voordeel aan deze lak. Met twee lagen had ik een dekkend resultaat, maar ik deed er drie, zodat ik er zeker van was dat er geen zichtbare nagel te zien zou zijn als ik macroshot foto's ging maken.

I wore this polish when I had a Girl's Day Out with 3 of the best friends in the world. We ended the day with a dinner at my home and after dinner two of them chose The Show Must Go On! to paint their finger- and toenails with ( the other girl chose a gorgeous green ). They aren't polishoholics at all and they certainly aren't into reds, but even they loved this one!

Ik droeg deze lak op een Meidendag met 3 van de beste vriendinnen in de wereld. We eindigden de dag met een etentje bij mij thuis en na het eten kozen twee van hen The Show Must Go On! om hun vinger- en teennagels mee te lakken (de andere vriendin koos voor een prachtige groene lak). Ze dragen niet vaak nagellak en ze zijn al helemaal niet gek op rode lakken, maar zelfs zij vonden deze prachtig!

This evening I'm going to paint my nails with an other Burlesque polis, Let Me Entertain You, I'm very curious to see if I love that one as much as this one. Before I start painting with that one, let's take a last look at this beauty:

OPI - Wing It , a little bit of summer on my little blog

Now that the summer is over and I'm moving all my longsleeve shirts and vests back in my closet ...I'm showing you a polish from OPI's Summer Flutter collection. Better late than never.

Nu de zomer toch echt vrijwel voorbij is en ik alle shirtje smet lange mouwen en vestjes weer in de kast leg...heb ik voor jullie een nagellak van OPI uit de Summer Flutter collectie. Beter laat dan nooit.

Kleur
Oke. Hoe ga ik dit omschrijven. Ehm... Roze met een oranje ondertoon en soms een wat rode gloed. Het is een foil en de glitterdeeltjes erin lijken afhankelijk van het licht zilver, of blauw of goud. Het lijkt een beetje op een duochrome, maar dan met meer kleuren. Beter dan dit kan ik het niet omschrijven, deze moet je gewoon in het echt zien en dan bij voorkeur in de zon, dan is deze lak echt prachtig.

Color
Okay. How am I going to describe this. Ehm...Pink with an orange base and sometimes a reddish glow. It's a foil and the glitterparticles change from silver to blue to gold. It looks a bit like a duochrome, but with more colors. No, there is no better way to describe this color, you should see this one irl and then preferably in sunlight, that really does this polish justice.

Applicatie
Met de applicatie zelf is niets mis, de lak brengt perfect aan, fijn borsteltje waarmee je netjes kan lakken, glitterdeeltjes verspreiden goed. Maar de dekking is waardeloos. 4 lagen zie je hier op de foto en je ziet nog steeds de nagel er doorheen. Volgende keer draag ik deze lak over een dekkende lak heen.

Application
The application is just fine, polish goes on nicely, I really like the brush and the glitter disperses evenly. But the coverage sucks. 4 coats and I still have vnl. Next time I layer it over a more opaque polish.

Deze lak stond op mijn wishlist en is daarom door Skulda naar me gestuurd, helemaal vanuit Canada! Het duurde weken voordat de lak er was, ik was al bang dat 'ie kwijt was geraakt in de post, maar uiteindelijk heb ik 'm toch en ik ben er erg blij mee! Deze lak is echt helemaal vrolijk en zomers.

I had this polish on my wishlist, Skulda saw that and sent me hers all the way from Canada! It took the polish forever to get here, I thought it might had gotten lost in the mail, but finally it arrived and I'm really happy with it. This polish is just perfect for summer. Thank you so much Skulda!

Back to Paradise with Essence Sun Downer

When I wore this polish the first time during the soccer World Championship I've called it many ugly names, there were bubbles in it, it wouldn't dry, it was just awful looking. But I think it had something to do with the extremely hot weather then because when I swatched it last week it looked really nice.

Toen ik deze nagellak voor het eerst droeg tijdens het WK heb ik er flink op zitten vloeken, er zaten belletjes in en het wilde niet drogen, het zag er verschrikkelijk uit. Maar waarschijnlijk had dat meer te maken met de extreem warme temperatuur, want toen ik deze vorige week ging swatchen had ik er vrijwel geen problemen mee en zag het er eigenlijk best mooi uit.
Kleur
Oranje met een mooie subtiele shimmer. Het is geen hele felle kleur, maar een draagbare zonnige kleur oranje.

Color
Orange with a nice subtle shimmer. It's not a very bright color, but a wearable sunny orange.
Applicatie
Gemiddeld, de lak is een klein beetje stroperig, maar is wel goed aan te brengen en geeft nauwelijks strepen of oneffenheden. Met 2 lagen goed, maar ik draag 3 lagen.
Duurt eeuwen voordat 'ie droog is, dus ik raad een sneldrogende topcoat aan.
Ik denk dat deze lak niet houdt van warm weer, ondanks dat deze in de Back to Paradise collectie zit. Bij warm weer was het één grote bubbelige streperige laag kauwgom die ik over mijn nagels smeerde.

Application
Average, it's a littlebit thick, but that's not a big problem for the application and there are no streeks. It looks good with two coats, I did 3.
Takes forever to dry so you'll need a quickdrying topcoat
Eventhough this is a polish from the collection Back to Paradise, I don't think this polish can stand warm temperatures. With hot weather it was a thick, bubbly, messy layer of gum I tried to apply on my nails.
Stickers
Ik heb er wat stickers van Viva la Nails op geplakt, ik vond deze goed passen bij de kleur van de lak en bij het thema Back to Paradise.

I applied some fun stickers from Viva La Nails, I thought these looked good with the polish and fit well within the Back to Paradise theme.

Almost QueensDay! Color Club Orange Revenge

Het is bijna Koninginnedag en ik heb eindelijk een excuus om de neon oranje die ik vorig jaar kreeg van mijn zus te dragen! Dus hierbij alvast een preview van hoe mijn Koninginne-mani eruit gaat zien.

It's almost Queensday. Queensday is a Dutch holiday on april 30th on which we celebrate the queens birthday ( that's in January, but it's too cold to party outside then ). Everybody goes outside, there are markets, lots of concerts and all kinds of events in every city. People often dress themselves in funny clothes and usually people get very drunk. Our national colour is orange so I have an excuse to wear the neon orange polish my sister got me last year. So hereby I show you a preview of my Queensday-mani.
Kleur
Neon oranje creme, deze kleur is uitzonderlijk fel, het is gewoon té fel om goed op de foto te krijgen ( mijn camera flipte ervan ), maar je krijgt een redelijk idee.

Colour
Neon orange creme, this polish is extremely bright, it's too bright to get a good picture of it ( my camera stressed out ), but you'll get the idea. Applicatie
Je ziet hier 3 lagen over wit. De lak is vrij dus dus je hebt die drie lagen echt nodig, maar hij lakt verder wel heel fijn. Zoals de meeste neons droogt de lak wat matte op.

Application
I'm wearing 3 coats over white. The polish is really thin so you really nead at least 3 coats, but besides that it's a great polish. Like most neaons it has a matte finish.
Ik ben benieuwd naar jullie Koninginnedag mani's. Als je nog wat leuks gaat doen met Koninginnenacht- of -dag dan wens ik je héél veel plezier en droog weer toe! PROOST!
