Glitter-attack with Misa Disco Queen +bonus pictures of me with afro-wig ;-)

For my birthday ( in May ) my love 'Eppie' gave me tickets for the Valtifest festival ( september 3rd ). It's a rather new festival with lot's of DJ's, bands and it's on an awesome location in Amsterdam. Every year they have a theme and they like everyone to be creative with the theme and dress up for the festival. I had 5 months to prepare...and only thought about a costume 2 days before the festival. The theme was "All in the family" and I decided I wanted to be a SoulSister. And the best mani for that outfit was the glamorous golden glitters of Misa Disco Queen!!!

Voor mijn verjaardag dit jaar ( in mei ) kreeg ik van mijn lieve 'Eppie' kaartjes voor het Valtifest festival ( 3 september ). Het is een vrij nieuw festival met veel DJ's, bands en het is op een leuke locatie, de NDSM werf in Amsterdam. Ieder jaar hebben ze een thema en dan is het de bedoeling dat je creatief bent met het thema en dat je je dan verkleedt. Ik had dus 5 maanden om na te denken over een outfit en ik bedacht pas iets twee dagen voor het festival. het thema was 'All in the family" en ik besloot dat ik als een "SoulSister" wilde gaan. En de beste mani die ik kon bedenken bij dat thema was de glamorous gouden glitterlak Misa Disco Queen.

Color
Yellow golden glitter. The glittes are tiny and there are LOTS of them! They aren't extremely sparkly, but they do look spectacular and make your nails look like you dipped them in gold. I had to look at my nails constantly and frequently waved them in front of 'Eppie's' eyes to make him look also. He also loved this polish.

Kleur
Geel gouden glitters. De glitters zijn heel klein en het zijn er heel VEEL! Ze glitteren niet heel extreem, maar ze zien er wél spectaculair uit en het lijkt alsof je je nagels in echt goud gedoopt hebt. Ik bleef maar kijken naar mijn nagels en wapperde ze regelmatig voor de ogen van 'Eppie' zodat hij er ook naar moest kijken. Hij vindt dit ook een mooie lak.

Application
Great coverage, it's a onecoater. The polish is very thick so I added some thinner.
I wore this polish once before over a basecoat and topped with Seche Vite and it chipped like crazy! So this time I took precautions and used 2 layers basecoat, then I applied a golden polish from Orly, after that I applied Disco Queen and I finished with 2 coats Seche Vite, both times I carefully wrapped the tips. It wore like iron, no chips at all after several days.

Applicatie
Dekt echt geweldig, is in één laag dekkend. De lak is erg dik, dus ik heb wat nagellak verdunner toegevoegd.
Ik heb deze lak een keer eerder gedragen, over een basecoat en afgelakt met een laagje Seche Vite en de stukken lak vlogen er binnen een dag al vanaf. Dus deze keer heb ik voorzorgsmaatregelen genomen en 2 lagen basecoat gedaan, daarna een laagje gouden lak van Orly, toen de Disco Queen en daarna twee lagen Seche Vite waarbij ik allebei de keren de randjes van de nagel volledig heb ingepakt in lak. Het zat ijzervast, geen enkel stukje eraf in de dagen dat ik het droeg.

VERY color accurate this one

My SoulSister outfit was a minidress with retro-pattern, a wide golden belt around the waist, big golden earrings, nice golden sunglasses and a big black curly afro-wig with a golden flower in it. It was 82 degrees Fahrenheit, so it was pretty hot with that wig on. But after a few cocktails I didn't notice it anymore ;-)

Mijn SoulSister outfit bestond uit een minijurkje met een retro-patroontje erop, een brede gouden wikkelriem om mijn middel, leuke gouden zonnebril en een grote zwarte afropruik met een gouden bloem erin. Het was echt 28 graden dus je begrijpt dat het flink heet werd onder die pruik. maar na een paar flinke cocktails merkte ik daar niks meer van ;-)

I really have to laugh at my droopy eyes from all the cocktails I drank. When I took the picture I really thought t didn't show.

Ik moet zo lachen om die hangerige oogjes van al die cocktails. Toen ik die foto maakte dacht ik echt dat je daar niets van zag.

The Blue Birthday-mani I did for my "Eppie" with Wet 'n Wild - Party of Five review

Two weeks ago my love "Eppie" had his birthday and for that I did a festive mani in blue and glitter. My friend Rosa bought a Lipmann Happy Birthday-dupe for me in New York and I thought that would be the perfect occasion to try this polish for the first time.

Twee weken geleden was mijn lief "Eppie" jarig en voor die gelegenheid heb ik een feestelijke mani met blauw en glitters gedaan. Vriendin Roos heeft in New York een Lippmann Happy Birthday-dupe voor me gekocht en dit leek me de perfecte gelegenheid om 'm voor het eerst te proberen.

Polishes used:
Dark blue - Misa 'Over the Edge'
Glitters over dark blue - Wet 'n Wild 'Party of Five'
Light blue - Catrice 'Up in the Air'
Glitters over light blue - Sinful Colors 'Hottie'

Color Party of Five
Clear base with hexagonal glitters in 3 different sizes and 5 different colors ( silver, green, red, blue and pink ) that look like confetti on your nails!

Kleur Party of Five
Kleurloze basis met achthoekige glitters in 3 verschillende groottes en 5 verschillende kleuren ( zilver, groen, rood, blauw en roze )

Application Party of Five
It's quite thick like glue and you have to apply it slowly so you have the same amount of glitter everywhere on your nail. The glitters are nice and flat and there is no gritty feel at all and it's very shiney.

Applicatie Party of Five
Het is vrij dik als een klodder lijm en je moet het vrij langzaam opdoen zodat je niet in één keer alle glitters naar de punt van je nagel smeert. De glitters zijn mooi plat en het geeft een mooi glad er heel glanzend resultaat.

My "Eppie" celebrated his birthday a few days later, for that day I let him choose a nailpolish for me to wear and THIS is the polish he chose for me to wear on his Birthday-BBQ.

Mijn "Eppie" vierde zijn verjaardag een paar dagen later, omdat het zijn dag was heb ik hem mijn nagellak laten kiezen en DIT is de lak die hij uitgezocht heeft voor me om te dragen op zijn verjaardags-BBQ.

Pimp my mani: One week with Misa - Green With Envy ( + Black Shatter & Flakies )

If I know I have a busy week ahead of me in which I have little time to do my nails, I usually do my nails with a Misa polish because then I know it will last me a week without chipping. So two weeks ago I took Green With Envy out of the untrieds and 'pimped' it during the week.

Als ik vooraf weet dat ik een drukke week ga hebben waarin ik weinig tijd heb om mijn nagels te doen, dan doe ik meestal een lak van Misa op zodat ik weet dat het een week zonder beschadigingen blijst zitten. Dus twee weken geleden heb ik Green With Envy uit de ongebruike lakjes gehaald en heb het gedurende de week 'gepimpt'.

Color
Lime green, very bright and cheerful color, perfect for spring!

Kleur
Limoen groen, erg heldere en vrolijke kleur, perfect voor de lente!

Application
Wonderful.
I've complimented the formula of Misa many times on this blog, everything I said then also applies to this one.

Applicatie
Geweldig.
Ik heb de lakken van Misa al zo vaak de hemel in geprezen op mijn blog en alles wat ik toen zei, geldt ook voor deze lak.

On Day 3 of this mani, my mom bought me a bottle of OPI Black Shatter when we were at Sephora's. She also bought one for herself, don't I have the coolest mom?
Ofcourse I couldn't resist trying it on one pinky, but after that I had to do the other 9 nails also because I couldn't walk around with one shattered pinky for the rest of the week.

Op Dag 3 van deze mani kocht mijn moeder een flesje OPI Black Shatter voor me toen we in Sephora's waren. Ze heeft voor zichzelf ook een flesje gekocht, heb ik niet de stoerste mama?
Natuurlijk moest ik de Shatter op één pinkje proberen, maar daarna moest ik de andere 9 nagels ook doen omdat ik niet de rest van de week met één shattered pinkje wilde rondlopen.

This combination is great, it makes me think of crocodileskin on my nails :-)
Deze combinatie is echt tegek, het doet me denken aan krokodillenleer op mn nagels :-)

On Day 5 a few colleagues and I had planned to go to the pub for some drinks and laughs. So I wanted to give my mani a little something extra and added Gosh Rainbow flakies to it. I never would have thought I would love this combination as much as I did. It just completed that reptile-look and I was totally in love with it.

Op Dag 5 hadden een paar collega's en ik afgesproken om wat te gaan drinken en ouwehoeren in een pub. Dus ik wilde deze mani nog wat extra's geven en heb er een laagje Gosh Rainbow flakies overheen gedaan. Ik had niet verwacht dat ik deze combinatie zo ontzettend mooi zou vinden. Het gaf de lak nog meer de uitstraling van een reptielen-huid en ik was er erg verliefd op.

So with one polish I lasted an entire week without getting bored with it! The great shatter and flakies are certaily a combination I will use more often.

Dus met één lakje heb ik een hele week gedaan zonder dat ik het zat werd. De geweldige shatter en flakies zijn absoluut een combinatie die ik vaker samen ga dragen.

Misa - Fashionista, a re-review.

One of the very first reviews I did on this blog was about Misa's Fashionista. Back then ( over a year ago ) I still took pictures with my cellphone and didn't do it justice. So when I wore Fashionista last week I decided I should do a re-review of this lovely polish.

Eén van de allereerste reviews die ik deed op deze blog ging over Misa's Fashionista. Destijds ( meer dan een jaar geleden ) maakte ik nog foto's met mijn mobiele telefoon en die deden deze lak totaal geen recht. Dus toen ik Fashionista vorige week droeg, besloot ik dat het tijd was voor een re-review van deze mooie lak.

Color
It's a dusty lilac but in artificial lighting it looks a bit mauve-lilac. But in whatever light you see this, it's very beautiful.

Kleur
Het is een 'dusty' lila. Deze kleur lijkt onder lamplicht wat meer oudroze-lila. Maar in ieder licht is deze lak even prachtig.

Application
Like almost every Misa cream it applies like a dream, I wish all polishes had this amazing formula.

Applicatie
Zoals vrijwel iedere creme lak van Misa ging deze ook weer als een droom op mn nagels, ik wou dat alle nagellaken zo'n heerlijk lakten.

There are similar polishes out there, I don't own any of them, but If you get the chance to buy one, you won't regret it if you do!

Er zijn tegenwoordig een boel lakken die hierop lijken, Ik heb er verder niet één van, maar als je de kans krijgt dan raad ik je aan om er één te kopen, je krijgt er geen spijt van!

Ladies ( and Gents ) I'd like to introduce to you my new Go-To polish *drumroll*...Misa- Like it Like That!!!!

It was love on first sight when I saw this polish for the very first time on Scrangies blog. Yess I even know when and where I saw the first swatch. It's so glossy and green and  perfect. So ofcourse I bought it. I've worn it at least 4 times since I bought it and that's something I rarely do. When I'm confused about all the untried polishes I have and don't know which one to wear next...I put on Misa Like it Like That! Makes no sense at all, but this polish makes me happy.

Het was liefde op het eerste gezicht toen ik deze lak voor het eerst zag op Scrangies blog. Ja ik weet echt nog waar ik de eerste swatch heb gezien. Het is zo glanzend en groen en perfect. Dus natuurlijk heb ik 'm toen gelijk gekocht. Sindsdien heb ik deze lak al zeker 4 keer gedragen en dat is vrij bijzonder voor mij. Als ik in de war ben van alle prachtige ongebruike lakjes die wachten om gedragen te worden en ik niet kan kiezen met welke ik begin...dan draag ik Misa Like it Like That! Slaat natuurlijk nergens op, maar ik word wel heel blij van deze lak.

Color
Gorgeous green metallic extremely glossy finish like you already used topcoat. In some lighting you can see some teal in it, but believe me when I say: IT'S GREEN!

Kleur
Prachtige groene metallic met een supergeweldige glans erover alsof je al topcoat hebt gebruikt. In sommig licht zie je er ook wel een blauwe kleur in, maar geloof me als ik zeg: HET IS GROEN!

Application
If I ever get to meet the person who is responsible for Misa's formula, I'm going to give that person, male of female, a big fat wet smooch right on the lips! I think Misa has the best application of all brands I know.
This polish was great in one coat, but it was perfection in two.

Applicatie
Als ik ooit de persoon ontmoet die verantwoordelijk voor de samenstalling van Misa's lakken, dan geef ik die persoon, man of vrouw, een dikke vette natte pakkerd vol op de mond! Ik vind dat de applicatie van Misa's lakken het beste is van alle andere die ik ken.
Deze lak was mooi in één laag en perfect in twee.

I also wore this polish when my mom and I had a cocktailworkshop ( that was fun!!!! ) and I thought it would be nice to show you some pictures of this polish in action at the cocktail workshop :-)

Ik droeg deze lak ook tijdens een cocktailworkshop die ik deed met mijn moeder ( dat was heel leuk!!!) en dacht dat het misschien wel leuk zou zijn om je wat foto's te laten zien van de lak in actie op de cocktail workshop :-)

Ahhh look at my happy face, cocktails have that effect on me.

And the polish goes great with all the colorful drinks we prepared ( and drank )

My Bright and Shiny Valentines Manicure

This is my Valentines mani: red and large glitters.
I just took this mani off a few hours ago, it still looked amazing, but it was time for another mani.
Because I wanted to post my Valentines mani this week I edited these pictures as soon as I could, so here they are!

Dit is mijn Valentijns mani: rood met grote glitters
Ik heb deze mani er vanavond pas vanaf gehaald, het zag er nog geweldig uit, maar het is tijd voor een verse mani.
Omdat ik de foto's deze week nog wilde plaatsen heb ik de foto's gelijk bewerkt, dus hier zijn ze!

Base: Misa - Femme Fatale, brightest red
Glitter 1: China Glaze - Golden Enchantment, tiny golden holo glitter
Glitter 2: Santee - Copper Kiss Glitter, larger and HUGE golden holo glotter
How appropriate are these titles by the way, I only noticed it right now while typing

Misa is my second favorite brand of nailpolish ( first being NfuOh ), the application is flawless and it stays on for so many days without chipping and hardly any tipwear.

Misa is mn tweede favoriete merk nagellak ( eerste is NfuOh ), de applicatie is geweldig en het blijft veel dagen prachtig zitten zonder beschadigingen of slijtage aan de randjes.

I got this Misa from my sister, she thinks it doesn't match her skintone ( we have similar skintone ) but I absolutely adore this red, it's the best bright red in my stash.

Ik heb deze Misa van mijn zusje gekregen, ze denkt dat deze niet bij haar huidskleur past (we hebben een vergelijkbaar kleurtje ), maar ik ben helemaal weg van deze kleur, het is de beste felle rood in mijn collectie.

We didn't do much about Valentines Day, my love "Eppie" was very sick, so I stayed home with him so he wouldn't be home sick alone on Valentine. I did do a little Valentines decoration in home and made him a cute card. I will post these pictures at the bottom of this post.

Voor Valentijn hebben we verder niet zo veel gedaan, mijn lief "Eppie" was erg ziek, dus ik ben thuis gebleven zodat hij met Valentijn niet zielig alleen ziek thuis zat. Ik heb wel wat Valentijns versieringen opgehangen en een lief kaartje voor hem gemaakt, deze zal ik wel onderaan deze post plakken.

Ofcourse some loving words were added and other cute stuff, but that's for "Eppie" only.

December Glitter #4: Julia is Blue over a Boy

It's snowing like crazy here in the Netherlands, it looks really beautiful outside. I don't like the cold or the slippery streets, but at least the view is great. And I did a Winter-mani to match the weather.

Het sneeuwt als een gek de afgelopen dagen, ziet het er bij jou ook zo mooi uit buiten? Ik hou niet van de kou of van het glijden over gladde stoepjes, maar het oog wil ook wat. En ik heb een Winter-mani gedaan die goed bij dit weer past.

Color Misa - Blue over a boy
Bright lightblue creme. Much darker and colorful then a pastel. Dries with a slightly matte, rubbery finish.

Kleur - Misa Blue over a Boy
Helder lichtblauwe creme. Veel donkerder en kleuriger dan een pastel. Droogt redelijk matte op met een rubber-achtige glans.

Application
Wonderful typically Misa application. All the cremes I tried of Misa are onecoaters, this one is no exception. I used two coats, because I'm like that, but one would have been sufficient.

Applicatie
De geweldige applicatie die zo typerend is voor Misa. Alle cremes die ik van Misa heb geprobeerd zijn al goed in één laag. Ik heb twee lagen op omdat ik dat graag heb, maar één laag was meer dan genoeg geweest.

Essence - Julia is part of the Twins collection, but I didnt like the silver Romeo that belonged with Julia, so I dumped Romeo. Julia is much better off this way. I did two quick coats of Julia just on the tips and smeared it out to half of the nail.

Essence - Julia is onderdeel van de Twins collectie, maar ik vond de zilveren Romeo die bij Julia hoorde niet leuk, dus ik heb Romeo gedumpt. Julia is zo veel beter af. Ik heb snel twee laagjes Julia op de puntjes van mijn nagels gedaan en tot halverwege de nagel uitgesmeerd.

Julia has three different glitters: teeeny tiny round silver glitter, a bigger round siver holo glitter and large square silver holo glitter. Looks really nice and very sparkly.

Julia heeft 3 soorten glitters: ieniemienie zilveren glitter, iets grotere ronde zilveren holo glitter en grote vierkante zilveren holo glitter. Ziet er erg mooi en glimmend uit!

I love light blue nailpolish in the winter, it has that icy look I really like this time of year. I hardly wear light blue polish in other seasons.

Ik hou echt van licht blauwe lak in de winter, het heeft zo'n ijzige look die ik nu heel leuk vind. Ik draag weinig lichtblawe lak in andere jaargetijden.

December Glitter #1: Starring OPI Sparkle-icious, Misa, China Glaze, my lovely sister and a little nubbin

Finally a post that shows you why my blog is called PolishSis! A few weeks ago my sister and I were painting our nails together and I took some pictures of both our mani's with OPI Sparkle-icious.

Eindelijk een post waarin je kan zien waarom mijn blog PolishSis heet. Een paar weken geleden waren mijn zusje en ik samen onze nagels aan het lakken en ik heb foto's gemaakt van allebei onze mani's met OPI Sparkle-icious.

Color Sparkle-icious:
Pink, gold en blue glitters in a clear base. Really sparkly and colorful.
It's great on it's own, but I like to layer my glitters. I will add a picture of this polish on it's own when I have the time and proper daylight to swatch it. Rightnow it's snowing outside, so it will have to wait.

Kleur Sparkle-icious
Roze, goud en blauw glitter in een transparante basis. Flitsend en kleurrijk.
Je kan deze lak ook alleen dragen zonder een kleurtje eronder, maar ik hou ervan om glitters over een andere lak te dragen. Als ik een keer voldoende tijd en daglicht heb dan zal ik deze lak een keer alleen swatchen. Op dit moment sneeuwt het buiten, dus dat moet nog even wachten.

Application Sparkle-icious
Great coverage, can be worn alone in 3 or 4 coats, dries quickly.
I really like how the glitters apply so evenly over your nail, no dragging at all. I'm wearing only one coat of glitter in these pictures.

Geweldige dekking, kan alleen gedragen worden in 3 of 4 lagen, droogt snel.
Ik vind het vooral fijn dat de glitters zo gelijkmatig aanbrengen, je sleept ze niet mee tot aan het puntje van je nagel. Ik draag maar 1 laag glitters in deze foto's.

This is how my sister wore Sparkle-icious, 2 coats over a bright sparkly purple. She loved this mani.
Dit is hoe mijn zusje Sparkle-icious heeft gedragen, 2 lagen over een felle glimmende paarse lak. Ze was heel blij met deze mani.

And two days later this happened...I broke one.
I didn't want to take off the enitire mani for one broken nail, so I filed it down and did a touch-up on the edges and enjoyed the mani for a few more days. After that I had to cut down all my nails, so you'll be seeing alot of nubbins the next few weeks.

En twee dagen later gebeurde er dit... ik brak er één.
Ik wilde niet alle lak eraf halen voor één gebroken nagel, dus ik heb 'm een beetje bij gevijld en de radjes bijgewerkt zodat ik de mani nog een paar dagen kon dragen. Daarna moest ik natuurlijk wel alle nagels kort maken, dus de komende weken ga je een heleboel stompies zien.
